I woke up to the sound of Percy screaming.
"Sam!" Percy shouted. My eyes shot open, and I jumped up. "Sam!" Percy called again, this time sounding farther away. I saw him in the distance, being dragged by something with wings. A Harpy. I started chasing after him, but stopped realizing it was a waste of energy. Another Harpy swooped at me. I ducked and pulled out my pocket knife. I knew I couldn't use my water powers without any water, and earthquakes were kind of redundant considering they could fly. But for some reason I could feel a tug inside my chest like I had more than I thought. More to offer. I've never really felt this tug before, but I figured it couldn't hurt to test it. I willed the tug to grow stronger as Percy got farther away, and I kept dodging and slashing at the other Harpy. The tug grew stronger until I felt like it needed to be let out. I raised my hands and felt energy I had never felt before. Suddenly a lightning bolt came out of nowhere and struck the harpy that was attacking me, and it immediately disintegrated. Before the other Harpy could react another lightning bolt hit the Harpy carrying Percy. Percy fell to the ground covered in monster dust. I ran over to him.
"You okay?" I asked.
"Yeah, fine." He said, rubbing his shoulders, where the Harpies talons were digging in.
"Come on, we should get our stuff before something else shows up." We quickly went back to our small camp and gathered all of our things, in about 5 minutes we were walking again towards the castle.
"So, did you know you could do the lightning bolt thing?" Percy asked after we walked in silence for a few minutes.
"Nope, that is new. I just felt something and the lightening bolt appeared."
"Did you ever suspect that you might of had Zeus in you?"
"Not really, but I guess if I really think about it. Chaos said something in the prophecy about being a daughter of three or something like that."
"And you never thought to mention it before."
"I didn't remember. Plus it's not like anyone could have really known about it."
"Chiron might have been able to help." Percy suggested.
"I don't really talk to him much." I said, which was true considering I mostly avoided him, I'm not really sure why I do it. I'm maybe a little bit scared of him. Most people scare me anyway.
"Maybe if you got to know him better you wouldn't be so shy."
"I'm not- Okay maybe I'm a little shy, but just towards new people or people I don't know."
"Exactly, trust me I've noticed. You always disappear quickly whenever their is some sort of gathering or the Romans come over." Percy said. "You put on a brave face when you have too, but I know you Sam." I ignored him, I didn't particularly like talking about this kinda stuff or anything with feelings really.
We trekked through the fields for a couple of hours until we finally made it to the gates of Hades castle, by then I was exhausted.
"Why are we always getting pulled into this sort of stuff?" I complained.
"Because, you especially are powerful and must be tested." He said. I gave Percy a look. "At least that's what all the stories tend to say." I rolled my eyes.
"Well I guess, It's now or never I suppose." I said, fixing the straps on my shoulders. We walked into the castle, and it was eerily quiet.
"This is too easy." Percy said.
"Yeah." I agreed. "And too quiet, maybe we should just get out of here." Just as I said that, a horde of skeletons came out of nowhere and attacked us.
"I guess we spoke too soon." Percy said pulling out his sword and slashing the nearest skeleton in half. I quickly pulled out my pocket knife, it probably wouldn't be much help because it wasn't made of any special metals but, and least it would hold them back for a bit. I turned my back to them for a second to help get a skeleton of Percy, when I felt a cold pain in my lower back. Percy quickly finished off the last of the skeletons as I fell to the ground. Everything seemed to be happening in slow motion, Percy ran to my side and pulled out the blade sticking out of my back. My blood quickly pooled around me, and I could barely hear Percy saying something. I felt cold and shivery. Black spots danced in my vision, until a fell unconscious.
