CHAPTER 12

Before the counselors showed up at the camp, Jason and I made a rule of the cabin. Never turn the light off. The only reason we could turn it off is if something was wrong, you were hiding, or one exception for Jason. He had a trap set up in the cabin. We probably should have discussed which traps he was gonna set up. Oops. I heard a string break. SNAP! An ax was coming down at me on my left. If I stepped to the right there was a loose board in the floor most likely to have nails in it. My weight would launch the end with the nails into my back killing me. With the little light provided by the open doorway, I could at least see a bear trap in front of me, if I dodged both traps on either side of me. Crap. Talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard trap. I ducked clear out and under the ax, straight over the bear trap, without being stabbed in the back. Literally. When I made it across the room, I turned the light on. I was right about the loose board with nails. Although I made it out of Jason's death trap alive, but a little more warning would have been better. I sighed deeply and rubbed my forehead. I was tired. I was about to sit down, just as Jason appeared in the door. He looked at the trap then me. His eyes grew wide in  surprise. He stood there gazing at me like he was in trouble with me. I sighed deeply, closed my eyes and rubbed my forehead. "Next time, give me a heads up BEFORE you set up a death trap in the cabin... Okay?" He nodded to let me know that he understood. He began to clean up the dismantled trap as I sat down and told him about the camp, the counselors, and what I did to the car...
