Chapter 5

Her P.O.V

I walk down stairs with my phone to my ear, and wonder why Matthew was staring at me through his door. I was on the phone to the waterpark manager to organize a big trip for the whole group. I arranged it for the day after, Jerry was just finishing up with the dishes, I said goodnight to him and went to the balcony, I finished the call and went back upstairs, changed into a pair matching PJs and went to sleep beside Anna. The next morning I wake up first, perusal, I put on my denim shorts, a white bikini top with a blue and white kimono shawl and I wore my roman sandals with it, I had some yoghurt and fresh fruit, I left the house and went for a little walk down the beach and back, then went swimming and decided I wanted go back to my old house, where my Aunt & Uncle now live, I went to the old bike shed and found my bike at the back where it had gathered dust, I wheeled it out and biked on the main road to the house, I ring the doorbell and my Aunt opens the door "Surprise" I say, she stands there in happy tears and pulls me in an embrace, I stay there for the whole morning and stay for lunch and then bike my way home and find everyone playing in the pool. "Hey guys" everyone looks at me "I have booked a trip for all of us to go to the water park   tomorrow!" it's quite for a minute and then everyone gets excited asking me what they need to bring, I tell them not to bother with a towel because they will just dry up in the sun, but to put lot of sunscreen on because they will get cooked like a piece of steak out in the sun. Everyone was in high spirits the rest of night, Sarah made dinner that night, her home recipe fish & chips, it was so simple but so delicious and with a side of salad it was gone in no time, we all go to sleep early to get a good night's rest for tomorrow. The next morning was bright and sunny not too hot but just right, I get dressed in hot pink & blue tropical printed bikini, with a grey tank top on top with  matching bikini bottoms under white washed denim shorts and pull on a pair of sandals, let my hair down, grab a satchel with tassels and put in my phone and wallet, then put my sunglasses in my hair and go down stairs to find most people having breakfast, I call the taxi bus to see when it will arrive, they say half an hour. Everyone buzzing around with excitement, I get a phone and see a text from Jack saying "Be up at dawn, gotta surprise 4 u" I smile to myself and reply with a simple smiley face, I put my phone in my satchel and everyone head out the door to the taxi bus, it takes forty five to get there, we all pile in, planning on what we want to go on, we decide to go around the park first to check everything out then divide into groups to go on the rides we want to, I pair up with Anna. When we get there the line is massive but we go into the VIP line and get through in no time, everyone has a yellow band on their hand which means they can go on any ride they want and go automatically to the front, but also can have any food they want from the food court. Everyone is talking about what to go on first, we all get passed through the security gates then boy's and girl's head their separate ways to get changed, everyone get's their own secured locker to put possessions in, I put my satchel in, take off my tank top and shorts and put them in but keep my phone on me, I put some money in my phone case then I walk out with Anna to go around and look at all the rides. The day flew by and by the time we got home everyone was so exhausted, we all went to bed and said our goodnights. The next morning I got up at the crack of dawn, put on a strapless white crop top and pair it with a hi-lo blue skirt that just covered my belly, I grabbed my white sandals and satchel, left a note for Anna saying I had gone out and would be back by lunch, I checked my phone and saw a brand new text from Jack- Hey beautiful, meet u in the market, at the smoothie stall!xxx. I smiled to myself, perfect I could get a smoothie while I waited, I arrived at 5:45, the locals were just setting up some stalls, these days, everyday is market day because of all the tourist that come at this time. I order a mango smoothie and sit at a table waiting. When I finally look up after browsing my social media, he standing there with a bouquet of lilies, I smile, how sweet of him, we go around the market and me buying a few pieces of jewellery for myself, today he wanted to take me somewhere special, so he took me onto a yacht, we swam on the reefs and had dinner in the sunset, it was a wonderful day but it did leave me thinking, what were we? Friends? Boyfriend and girlfriend? I mean, ever since what happened between us we hadn't really talked, I thought about while walking into the house and bumped into Matthew, "hey, what are you doing out so late?" he asked "I was just hanging with an old friend" he looked hurt or was it jealousy," Oh, well I'm going up stairs so turn the lights when you're done" he said, he walked up the stairs, so I walked to the kitchen and got a bottle of water, sat on the couch and looked my phone, 1 new message from Jack-Had fun today ;), I was troubled and was still wondering about what are we, I couldn't resist so I wrote, What are we? and sent it, it didn't take long for him to respond, Jack-We're friends, what did u think? I mean like I have a girlfriend, I thought we could just be friends this time round. I stared at the text not knowing what emotions I was feeling, then I felt something, anger, all the feeling we had had towards each other he was just gonna forget about it!? And a girlfriend, how come he didn't mention it to me before now!? At this stage I was raging with anger, the years I tried to build those walls up yet in the end they came crumbling down on me, so I went to the kitchen and took a knife out, grabbed a grapefruit and started cutting it, at least it was better cutting myself, then the kitchen door open and Matthew stood there with a glass of what looked like there had been juice in it cup, he stared at me with the knife in my hand and then started and the grapefruit, I stood there shaking in fear and anger, he came over, took the knife out of my hand and lead me outside and sat me down on the hammock, "Is there something wrong?" he asked, I just sat there and stared into empty space, how could I have been so stupid nearly falling for the same boy twice. He put an arm around me, he smelled of the sea and I noticed he had gotten a lot more tanned, I just leaned in and cried into his shoulder, we lay down and stayed there all night eventually falling asleep, when we woke it was morning, I looked up and saw his beautiful green eyes gazing down at me. We got up and cut up some fruit, added some nuts and yoghurt and that was breakfast, we didn't about what happened last night but stole glances at each other.

His P.O.V

Last night was like a dream, I had just gotten to sleep when I heard two voices in the room, sat up and saw Cameron and Sarah sitting on the bed, I looked at them and they stared at me, so I decided to go get a glass of water, but I was surprised to see Lydia with a knife and grapefruit at the chopping board, the grapefruit was carved into very even slices, so even and precise it was a surgeon had cut them which was kind of scary, she looked up tears streaming down her face, shaking, you could see the anger in her eyes like it was eating her up from the inside, I walked towards her, took the knife out of her hand and lead her outside onto the hammock, we laid down, I asked what was wrong but she didn't seem like she wanted to talk about it, so we just lay there peacefully, she started crying and I comforted her and we ended up falling asleep. I woke to the first rays of sunlight on my face, I looked down and saw her face so peaceful, it was sought of how I wanted to wake up every day. She woke up and stared up at me, she then realised where and what she had done. She sat up and got up and back away, she seemed so scared. "Did we do anything?" she asked, I looked shocked, "no, we did nothing"

"I can't seem to remember anything, what happened?"

"I'm not sure, you were just really upset, and things just happened"

"I'm sorry if I did anything stupid"

"It's ok, if you need anyone to talk to I'm always here"

"Thanks" she said, she seemed genuinely happy, she got up and walked inside to eat breakfast, when she was gone, I wanted to scream at myself, if you need anyone to talk I'm always here? That's a one way pass to being friend zone if I wasn't there already, I mean what would a girl like her want me? We had been friends for a long time, since we were 10, people had asked if we were going out and it got sort of awkward between us, I mean having your best friend a girl? That was weird and adding in that she was super pretty and smart, it was hard not to develop feeling but apparently not being friends just helped those feelings. I always tried to impress her but it never worked, she always paid attention to the books,art and her aquatic sport. She seemed to get even more distant everyday, she made friends with Anna , they were more like sisters than friends. She got into the school swimming team and competed at the ISSC (Inter School Swimming Competition) winning all her races. Coming on the vacation was a chance for me to make a connection but ended up getting friend zoned, so very smart of me.

Idk what to say. I'm gonna try update but exams are coming up and I need to study without procrastinating(without ending up watching anime) so yea, great chat! -Helen > <
