Her P.O.V
How could I be so dumb? Spending a night out with Matthew? What was wrong with me, I knew he had feeling for me and for me just do that, I was stupid. I go up and get changed in a pair of ripped denim short and a black and white striped crop top grabbed my satchel put my Keds on and head straight out the door, I didn't bother with breakfast I could just grab a smoothie. As I was walking through the market I saw a poster for the Festival of Flowers, I smile remember the years where my mother would take me and everywhere you looked you would see streams of flowers, I remember floral dresses and dancing with all my family. Maybe this year I could take my friends, maybe, it gave me something to ponder on, I grabbed a pamphlet and walked while reading it, she accidentally bumped into someone, a female, I look up, "Zoe?" I ask, "Lydia?"
"Oh my gosh, Zoe from year 3?
"Lydia, oh my word, what are you doing back in the Bahamas, I thought you moved to LA?"
"I'm on vacation, fancy seeing you here, how's school?
"It's good, same as always, have you spoke to Jack"
"Yeah, I have"
"And how was it?"
"It went well, but I don't think we will be in contact soon"
"Gosh it went that bad?"
"I suppose"
We stood there in silence, "Well, I better be going" she said, "Yea, same, it was great meeting up", I kept walking and grabbed a fresh smoothie then down to the cost, sat down on one of the edge of the wharf and drank my smoothie staring at the calming sea, I took some deep breathes and decided what I was going to do, no one messes with me and gets away with it. I smile as I think about my plan, first thing was first, I had to stay in shape because as soon as I got back to LA the school would be having try-outs, and I was always on the team, I walked back to the house and walked up stairs grabbed my swimsuit and head right back out the door without anyone noticing, I walk up to the aquatic center. The Aquatic Center is huge, parts of it are linked together with the sea, I walk around a lot has changed, they have added in a lot more lanes and a 5m deep diving pool, with a 5m,7m,10m platform, I see that most of the pool now it outside and is mostly using seawater with some barriers. There was a lot more changing rooms which was better I get changed and hire a locker. I look around and see my old swimming club practicing, I walk over "Coach Tucker" I say, the man yelling at the kids looks around and stared at me.
"Well if it isn't my star pupil, Lydia Sapienti, how are you doing?"
"Thank Coach, I'm doing well, I see the swim team has gotten larger."
"Yes, after they heard that national champion had been with us they started just rolling in."
"Yeah? How are my records still unbeatable?"
"Well, yes but some people are showing some promise, you remember Mackenzie? Well she might be the most powerful swimmer on our team now."
"She was always second place to me, it's natural that as soon as soon as I leave that she become first, but I can still beat her."
"You sure about that? She's been claiming most of the titles but she never did them in the same time as you, naturally."
"Well I claimed all titles and still am."
"Really, how's that been going."
"Well, I don't want to brag but since you asked, 2 time ISC Champion, 3 time Regional Champion and last year State Champion, and that's only for swimming."
"Wow, you took up other sports?"
"Naturally I wanted to specialize in not just one sport so I took up other aquatic sports" I said, Coach looked impressed, "Well you're practically a legend among the youngsters" once he finished his sentence, one of the swimmers came up, "Well, well if it the gold star that flew away?" the voice was just the essence of annoying "Nice to meet you Mackenzie, see you're still annoying as ever"
"What are you even doing here? I mean you're practically a nobody here"
"You know that's funny you should say, as I was walking I seem to still be seeing my picture on the wall of Legends, and not to mention that the trophy case is still full of my awards I donated, so yes still a nobody indeed." I said smartly, she look flustered, "Fine, me against you 100m, right here, right now"
"Fine, but I only swim free style" I reply, she had no idea what she was getting into. The kids in the pool looked up and as soon as they saw who I was they gasped, I smiled. They quickly scrambled out of the pool making room for us, I stood and took the jumper I had borrowed off and was left standing there in my black and blue Adidas swimsuit, the kids gasped, what I was wearing was a limited edition one of a kind, sent from Adidas themselves swimsuit, priced at about $200. I put my goggles on and stretched and mounted the starting block, Coach stood there "Now, I want no cheating first person to do 100m comes back and touches the wall is the winner, understood, right, on your marks, get set, GO! I dive into the water feeling at peace with it, I felt at home and began to swim, this was my whole life and I wasn't going to lose to someone like Mackenzie. I did 100m easily and touched the wall, I was in front by a whole 5m. Mackenzie got out of the pool and stormed off. Coach look at me "You just broke the pool record, that you made by 2 seconds." Everyone congratulated me, I got changed and the staff asked if they could take a photo so I said yes, they were going to put my picture up in the swim club room. I left the pool in high spirits and walked into a café to grab a salad and walked back to the house slowly, not in any rush. By the time I got home it was 7:00pm and everyone had already eaten dinner, everyone was buzzing with excitement "Lydia, Anna just suggested we go to the Festival of Flowers", said Sarah, "Sure" I said and walked straight up to bed, got in then took my laptop out and did some light reading and studying. I ended up falling asleep on my laptop and waking up to the sound of my phone buzzing as the alarm was going off, I wondered who set my alarm because it wasn't me, well I don't remember it being me. I put my glasses on (I usually wore contacts but not to bed), it was reminder, strange, it said look out the window, I went over to the window noticing that Anna wasn't in her bed, I look at and saw 2 figures standing outside, I make out a figure of a girl and a boy, they seem to be embracing. The rays of sunlight hit the face of the boy first, I was shocked, it was Jack, then slowly the rays hit the girl and I wanted to crawl away right now and hide under a rock, the girl was Anna. She was embracing Jack, my best friend was embracing my Jack, the boy that had broken my heart so many years ago, but now wasn't the time to think about it. Anna suddenly looked up at the window and caught a glimpse of me, I quickly back away from the window. What was I doing? Why was I even here? I throw a pair of high waisted shorts and printed tee-shirt which says don't bother asking, put a pair of slip on sneaker on, grab my satchel and exit out the front door, straight past them not even batting an eyelid, that was how much I cared about them. I grabbed the bike that was left at the front door and paddled as fast as I could away, tears streaming down my face, not looking back. I ride on the main road to the other side of the island, and stop at a small café and have breakfast. By now I'm not crying anymore and have calmed down, I decide I was gonna spend the day out, just as I was thinking of what I wanted to do I got a text from Matthew, where r u? I read it and wondered if I should reply...
