Baking

Tikki POV
Beep-beep beep-beep I woke up to Mari's new alarm beeping on the nightstand next to me. I looked around and saw that it was still mostly dark outside, and the sun was just beginning to rise. I flew out of my tiny cushion bed Mari made me and started to talk to Mari to get her up. "Mari, it's 4:00 in the morning, and it's time to start baking! You don't want to waste time!" I stared at her for a second, and she was fast asleep. I started to shake her, but it was no use. I wondered what I should do. "Hmm.... well, Marinette, I guess if you won't wake up, I guess you will let your parents down and they will never leave you alone ever again..." I said in her ear to get her to wake up.

Marinette sprung up from bed and asked me in a rush, "Tikki, why didn't you just say so in the first place? Let's get cooking!" She rushed downstairs to the bakery's kitchen, and I sped downstairs with her.

We first started to get the ingredients out, and started making the muffins. We mixed the dough and put them in the pans, then to the oven where they could bake. I set the timer for the bread and Mari gave me a big smile.

"Alright, Tikki, time to bake the other pastries like cookies and tarts!" Mari said to me, wiping her brow with the back of her arm because her hands were sticky. "Cookies and tarts are my favorite thing to bake. My papa taught me how to make them when I was little. I have known how to bake more and more pastries ever since, watching my dad when I had free time." She sighed deeply and looked at the cookies she was making and smiled. "I miss those days." She looked at the cookies a bit longer in thought, and looked up with a big smile. "But being ladybug and saving Paris is just as fun as baking with my dad. And having you here is the best thing ever."

I flew over to her and hugged her face. "Thanks Mari! I have fun with you too, baking as Marinette, and saving Paris with Chat Noir as Ladybug." I looked around and saw all the counters were full of hot cakes, cookies, tarts, muffins, and biscuits that needed to be put on display. "Mari, we should stop for a bit so we can put the pastries on display. And maybe we should check the time too. We might have to go to school soon." I said as I looked outside and to Marinette, who tightened her ponytail she put in earlier instead of her usual pigtails.

Mari looked out the window, then to her clock. "Good call, Tikki. We have about 30 mins before I have to be at school to talk to Mr.Damocles." She stood there in thought for a second, then added, "We should take the pastries out of the kitchen first, then clean the counters. Then we should take out all the rest of the pastries here in the ovens and get ready for school. But I still need to eat breakfast...." she looked at the ground and sighed. "Well, I can eat one of these muffins I made. Let's get started."

She started taking out trays of pastries to the bakery and put them in display cases. When she took a tray off the counter, I cleaned it after her. We finished displaying all the pastries and cleaning the counters, and the timers rang just in time. Mari took them out carefully and put them in the displays. I grabbed her a muffin and some cookies for me and put them in Mari's school bag. Mari went upstairs to get dressed and grab her purse, then came back down.

"Let's go, Tikki! Before we're late!" Mari rushed out the door and locked it behind her. I flew quickly into her purse and hid. Mari ran to school, 15 mins early so she could talk to Mr.Damocles.
