Ash's POV
"I think I love you too..."
Her words echoed in my head as I layed restless in my tent that I shared with Jace and Calem. I stared up at the roof of the small tent, all I could see was her face. Her beautiful face, her eyes which glistened in the light. Damn, I loved her eyes so much. I need to clear my head. I got up grabbed a blanket and wrapped it around myself. I noticed Calem wasn't in the tent, I shugged it off. What about Serena? I know she likes me, I don't want to hurt her. I walked down to the waters edge and spotted Serena kissing calem gently on the cheek in the middle of the river, struggling to keep at the surface of the water. Well, I guess Serena's gonna be okay then. I began walking back to our camp in the forest, I lit the fire and sat , silently staring down in to the violent flames. After a while someone sat beside me, a girl. "Hey, Lovebug," the girl said to me,
"Lovebug?" I tilted my head my voice weak and tired.
"You have a problem with that Ash?" I finally decided to take a good look at the girl, her hair was chesnut brown and her eyes the same brown as my own. Her skin was fair and soft, "No I don't Layla, but isn't a little bit childish to give each other nicknames?" She rolled her eyes at me ,
"You're such a kid, Ash! Of course it's not, Lovebug is just something I used to call... Nevermind I'll change it," She sighed to the ground. I wrapped a caring arm around her, pulling her head into my shoulder. I rubbed her arm a few times before looking down at her, she gripped the blanket that was wrapped around me tight. A tear cascaded down her cheek, I hastily wiped it away, "Layla, I'm here for you. Through rain or snow. Even if it meant I had to climb the highest mountain in the world I would NEVER give up trying to protect you from those who want to hurt you. I love you, Layla. And I REALLY hope you love me back, but even if you don't I will still tr..." Suddenly I was interrupted as Layla grabbed the neck of my tee and pulled it down so that our faces were level, her breath was hot as it proliferated across my raw cheeks, blood suddenly dashed up to my cheeks making them look redder than they already were. Layla tugged me towards her and our lips locked, she hung onto my shirt with one hand still pulling it down, her other hand was holding the back of my head, keenly trying not to break the kiss. I placed my hands on her waist. She pushed me away suddenly, I looked at her. She seemed nervous all of a sudden, "Layla, What's wrong?" I stood up as she did, gripping her hand.
"I'm fine, It's just- nevermind," She sat down staring longingly into the flames. I rubbed her shoulder affectionately, trying not to seem too pushy. "Layla, please tell me what's wrong," I held her hand gently pulling it towards my leg. She looked up at me, searching my eyes for something. As I looked directly into her eyes I spotted a glimpse of sadness, did she not like me? "You said you loved me back... But if you don't then just tell me," I frowned. There was a deathly silence...
