Chapter 26

“Lianna, can you here me sweetie?” A female voice breaks through my subconscious and I grown in reply.

“Ok sweetie, I need you to answer a few questions for me, ok?”I groan, but manage to nod.

“Good, now sweetie can you tell me where it hurts?” Where the hell am I? And who is this woman?

“My head.” I croak out with my eyes scrunched tight shut.

“Good, now can you tell me if you can feel this?” I feel something press against the bottom of my bare foot.

“Yes.”

“And this?” I feel a pressure on my other foot.

“Yes.”

“What about this?” The moves up to my thigh.

Why is this person poking me?

“Yes.”

Where’s Mrs Burke and Jett and Veronica and-?

“And this?” The pressure starts on my other leg.

“Yes.” Oh my god. There vampires or did I just dream that?

No I didn’t dream it. I couldn’t have.

“Ok, good, now can you feel this?” She takes a hold of my hand and starts to press lightly on it.

“Yes.”

“Ok good.” I open my eyes slightly and instantly regret it when the bright white light above me glares at me. I instantly wince and shut my eyes.

“You can try, but they are away.” I tell her and she nods her head before heading towards the door in her room.

“Wait.” She pauses and I feel guilt gnaw at me from the inside because of the way I spoke to her before. “I am sorry for the way I spoke to you… I-I don’t know why I took my anger out on you.” I look down and feel tears fill my eyes.

“It’s ok, and I’m sorry I shouldn’t have assumed.” She apologies to me.

“No, you had every right to. Could you please ask Mrs Burke to come in please? Just her.”

“Sure, sweetie. It is dinner time; do you want me to bring you a meal?”

“Please?”

She nods her head and pats my hand gently before walking out of the room, calling over her shoulder: “You information is on the system, so I will give your parents a ring.”

“Thanks.” I look don’t at my hands shame seeping through me. Why is this happening? What’s wrong with me?

My stomach starts to churn nervously as I wait for Mrs Burke to come in the room. I can’t believe she has lied to me for all of these years, and what does she want? My blood?

Just even thinking about it makes me want to vomit.

“Lianna? Oh, sweetie.” Mrs Burke pokes her head through my door and then when her eyes land on me she runs to my side. Tears form straight away in my eyes at the site of her and she pulls me into her arms.

“I was so worried about you!” She hugs me even tighter and I hug her in return, my previous thoughts about her and her vampires being vampire are gone from my mind.

“I’m sorry.” She tells me as she pulls away from me after holding me for a few minutes, where she now looks me in my eyes and he hands are firmly grasped on my shoulders.
