Chapter 18
The sincere look in Jett's eyes suddenly vanishes and his eyes grow cold and his body becomes tense. He snatches his hand back from my cheek as if I have just burned him.
"Never repeat a word of that?! You got it you fat bitch?!" He yells at me and I jump in fright, quickly nodding my head but too scared to say anything.
He stomps into the barn, kicking the door open so it crashes against the barn wall. The animals in the barn start to make noise of distress and stomp about in their own pens. Then suddenly he lets out a roar and slams his fist into the barn wall, making a hole in the wall.
“What the fuck is wrong with you?!” I yell; his fist slamming into the wall snaps me out of feeling scared.
“What is wrong we me?” He mocks. “What’s wrong with you? Why can’t you stay away from my family?!” He sneers at me, looking at me with disgust.
Now I am really confused.
“I’ve been working for your Nan long before I met you!” I yell at him. “And I haven’t even done anything wrong; you’re the one that kept on being a knobjockey to me, so you would come up to me just to play your stupid pranks on me!”
“That’s not what I meant and you know it!” He roars.
“NO I DON’T; I DON’T HAVE A FUCKING CLUE WHAT YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT!” I scream and I feel my face go red.
“YES YOU DO; YOU KNOW YOU’RE MAKING ME FALL IN L-!” Suddenly he shuts him mouth halfway through his sentence and his face looks completely strained.
“I’m making you fall for what? I haven’t done anything to you!” I yell and I feel stupid as tears of frustration begin to well in my eyes and I hope to God that Jett doesn’t see them.
“Yes you have…” He whispers brokenly as his face drops and turns from a look of anger to sorrow.
“What have I done then?” I ask, really wanting to know what is going on in that mind of his.
“Never mind… lets just get this done so we can get ready for the boat.” He says and for some reason I just want to run into his arms and never let go.
Wait- what am I talking about? I shouldn’t want to be anywhere near him because he is a twat.
“Fine!” I snap at him annoyed by his dismissal attitude.
“Fine! What do we do first?” I half ask/half growls and I roll my eyes at his tone; he has no reason to be angry at all.
“Milk the cows, and then let them out into the fields. Then we throw some seed into the chicken run so that we can clean out the pen without them being there, after that we throw some food into the pig pen. And finally we let the horses out into the other field at the opposite side of the barn and we muck out the stalls and put fresh hay down, and when we bring the horses back in we will clean the horses and let them back out again.” I tell him.
“Just great…” He mutters. “Let’s just get this over and done with.” He sighs and starts walking over to where the cows are.
I walk slightly behind him with a frown on my face because I am really confused about Jett’s outburst; have I really been bothering him and his sisters. I guess I should start to stay away a bit because it is obviously their time with their grandmother and I know that Mrs Burke has been waiting for them to come down and visit her for a long time, but the only problem with me staying away from this family is that I am handcuffed to Jett.
I make a promise to myself that tonight I will beg for Mrs Burke to un-cuffs and then I will just come to the barn every morning and see to the animals and then I will just get my pay of Mrs Burke and hopefully not see anymore of Jet than necessary.
