Chapter 7

I heave a sigh of relief when I hear Alex’s car pull away behind me and I slow down so I am walking at a leisurely pace towards the barn. I don’t even bother going to Mrs Burke’s house because one: I have got a key to the barn and she knows I will get the job done and two: because I don’t want to risk running into Jett.

I open up the barn and close the doors behind me. The second I close the doors an eerily feeling overcomes me, it is like someone is here with me. But I shake it off and switch the lights on and walk over to the chicken run to close the coop door over so they can’t get out.

I walk over to where the horses’ stalls are and open the first stall. I smile at the horse and walk over to where the blankets are kept.

“Shit!” I say with a little scream as I drop the blankets when the lights in the barn switch off.

I look around the stall and it is covered in darkness and I can’t even see my hand in front of my face. I’m about to walk over to the door when I hear thick footsteps above me in the loft where we keep the bails of hay.

I freeze when the footsteps start to become louder and louder and I hear the stairs creek under the weight of the loud footsteps, and lucky for me, the stairs lead to the other end of the barn.

When the persons heavy feet reach the far end of the barn, I yank open the door to the stall and blindly run to the barns doors. I reach the doors and try to pull open the doors but they won’t budge. I start to panic even more when I hear the footsteps begin again and head towards my direction.

I keep on trying to pull the door open, but my heart stops when the footsteps stop close behind me. I stand there not moving a muscle, waiting for any sign of movement.

I let out a scream of terror when the lights turn on and a menacing voice sneers behind.

“What’s your favourite movie?” I tense up and slowly turn around.

My breath catches in my throat as I see a large person behind me dressed in a scream mask with a black cloak around him, holding a dagger.

Before I even comprehend what I am doing, I punch him square in the face and his head snaps back. I bolt away from him but soon hear his feet thundering behind me.

I scream at the top of my voice as I run to the other end of the barn, but it is a dead end and the only place to go is up to the loft. So to by myself sometime I run up the stairs, still screaming to get Mrs Burke’s or anyone’s attention.

I reach the top of the stairs and my foot gets caught on something, making me stumble. I try to right myself, but the killer catches up to me and forces me to the ground.

My face is pushed against bails of hay stopping me from screaming anymore.

“What’s your favourite scary movie Lianna?” He growls in that same menacing voice.

“Please.” I beg, my body shaking with sobs.

“Wrong answer.” He says chirpily.

“Lianna?!” I hear Veronica shout from the barn entrance.

“Help me!” I yell.

I hear a big whooshing of wind and then I hear a lot of gasps.

“Jett?!” Mrs Burkes shouts in shock.

The person that was pinning me to the floor got off me and I rolled over and I struggled to see around me because my vision is blurred by my tears.

My vision starts to clear up a bit but I am still crying.

I look around and see Veronica, Missy, Brittany, Tori and Mrs Burke glaring at someone sat with their back to me. I wipe my eyes and look at the person who is sat on a bail of hay, in a black cloak, holding a mask in their hands. I look at the person’s face and the person who I see makes me cry even harder.
