The sky grows dark
A single speck of light appears
Then another, then another
Soon the whole sky glitters
With those shining diamonds we call starsA glowing orb emerges from the clouds
Shining brighter as the night darkens
Casting its pale glow over us
Soon the night is brightened
By that gentle light we call the moonThe night grows darker
Covering us like a blanket
Settling down around us
Soon the blackness is everywhere
Lit only by the soft light of the moon and starsAs we sit there together under the night sky
The darkness, that soft blanket, slowly fades
The moon, that gentle light, drops past the horizon
The stars, those shining diamonds, disappear one by one
Then the sun's first rays illuminate the world
And our night sky, our moment of peace, is goneThe day may be beautiful
May be full of life
But nothing can compare
To sitting, thoughtful, under the night sky
With you
