Everyone's so wrapped up in their own lives
No one ever cares about anyone else
No one ever means it when they say
"How are you?"
Just like no one ever means it when they say
"I'm fine."
Because no one's ever fine.
We all have things going on in our lives
That we are dying to let out but at the same time can't.
Because no one really cares about your life.
Isn't it sad how we ask these questions
And pretend we care so much?
"How are you?"
And isn't it sad how we answer them
So automatically
"I'm fine, how about you?"
Maybe it's time to start caring
And untangle ourselves from our own lives
Maybe it's time to start asking real questions
And giving real answers
"How are you?"
"I'm not okay."
"I'm here."
