"Only life & death is certain in this world my child. Humans fear death the most & value their life as a living mortal. But there was something that stood between life and death"
"What is it mother?"
"The Keepers"
"Keepers?"
"Yes my love, Keepers are what they are supposed to be called"
"What do they do mother?
"Oh they do great things my child. But their lives were never that great, so some of them wanted more & did forbidden things."
Under a shady tree sat two people. One had a long, blonde & wavy hair. Her emerald eyes shone brightly as a few escaping sunlight seemed to reflect them underneath the tree. Her long gown became a comfortable pillow for the child beside her. The child had a short brown hair, partnered with two beautiful brown eyes. The child had an angelic smile as he continued to converse with his mother.
"My child, do you believe in witches?"
"You mean the evil ladies with pointy hats??"
His mother simply laughed gracefully upon her child's statement. She continued to stroke the boy's hair as she spoke.
"They do not always wear pointy hats my child"
"They don't?"
"No my child. These so-called witches are actually the Keepers. And the Keepers used to have only one job. And it was to keep peace among the spirits"
"What are spirits mother?"
"You see my child, when a living creature dies, its soul is separated from its body. And before they are given their final judgement, whether they are to go into heaven or not, they stay and roam among us as spirits"
"So how do the Keepers keep peace, mother?"
"Most of the spirits still cling onto someone or something that was once very precious to them when they were still living. The keepers must be able to set these spirits free from their remaining connections with the living in order to maintain peace between the living and the dead. If a spirit's connection isn't severed, the spirit is then called as a Wanderer."
"Wander-er?"
"Wanderer my child. They are called wanderers. For it is like their lost souls are wandering into a world where they no longer belong to"
"Are they harmful mother?"
"Not entirely. But if they aren't soon set free, they might lose themselves entirely."
"What does that mean?"
"Let us say that a little girl who was actually really really close with her mother, suddenly came upon death. And as a lone spirit she could not accept to be separated with her mother. Therefore there is a tendency that she would stay inside her house and never leave her mother's side. By staying with a living creature her entity as a spirit could not handle the circumstances. She might lose her entire identity little by little or she might decide to forcefully transfer her lost soul into another living object or a non-living object"
"You mean like the possessed people or possessed dolls that I often heard in scary ghost stories mom?"
"Yes my dear. It is because of her desperate longing for her mother that might push her to transfer into other forms. But doing this will only severe her spirit and soon, she will completely loose her entire identity as a spirit and become something worse than a Wanderer."
"What's that, mother?"
"They are called the Self-less, for they no longer know whether they are spirits or if they are lost souls or a living object anymore. Their confusion lead them into something that can no longer fit into the category of a Spirit, nor a Wanderer. Some people often refer to them as Mad Spirits, for their actions depict somewhat of a mad person. They become aggressive and will take any type of actions just to accomplish their goals"
