Aimera said her goodbyes to Clark after he decided to dig for further information, and after she made him swear to tell her if anything came up. She then headed to Cat Co. to pick up Kara and Winn for lunch. She hated going there, because Ms. Grant always tried to convince her to stay, especially after finding out she was related to Clark Kent.

Aimera had hoped nobody would find this out. That was why, once she started going to school here on Earth, and actually needed paperwork to pass off as a human, she asked the Kents to write her name down as Aimera Colt and not Aimera Kent. She never knew why she had asked for Colt, it just came to her, naturally.

When she fell in love with Kara, she thought this was even better, because if people knew that she was 'related' to Clark Kent, then that meant she was also 'related' to Kara. And if Kara ever reciprocated those feelings, she didn't want any backlash from the media or anyone else for dating her 'cousin.'

There was a third reason, too. If the world found out Superman's identity as Clark Kent, or found out Clark Kent was actually an alien from another planet, they could most likely trace that back to Aimera, or even Kara, for being 'related' to Clark, and discover the three of them as Kryptonians. This could also happen if Kara was discovered, or even if Aimera was discovered. This is another big reason why Aimera took a different last name than Clark.

Aimera took the beanie off of her head, releasing her dark brown tresses, and entered the building.

Kara and Winn were both staring up at the TV, bickering quietly.

"Hey, guys, what's up?" Aimera asked, casually.

They stopped bickering and gestured to the TV. It was airing a news report by the Daily Planet.

With footage of a girl with Kryptonian qualities, and a black beanie over her head and hair.

Shit!

"After this short video clip was recorded, the woman flew back into the building. We couldn't see her face clearly, but witnesses claim it was, in fact, National City's Supergirl."

Aimera felt a ping of resentment in her heart, but it left before she could understand why.

"Witnesses also state that Supergirl helped Superman defeat an unknown threat before exchanging farewells and leaving, presumably back to her city. What has everyone wondering, however, is: what was she helping The Man of Steel with? And why wasn't she wearing her signature outfit? One thing for sure, though; everyone sure is happy to see them fighting side by side."

Winn stared at Kara after the report ended.

"Yeah, Kara? When did you go help him? And why wasn't I informed? And why, oh why, were you not wearing my suit?" Winn whisper-yelled.

I fumed silently behind them. All this begging me to be a hero, and they never even asked if it was me there.

Kara rolled her eyes. "I was here, all day, Winn. Like, in the desk right next to you."

They turned to me. "Ames, did you hear anything about this on your way here?"

I blanked, thinking they were talking about my way here, as in from Metropolis.

"...From the studio..?" Winn continued, slowly.

Duh! "Oh, no, this is the first I'm hearing of it." I responded.

They didn't spare me a second glance after that.

They continued to bicker, Winn not believing that Kara wasn't there.

"Maybe it's a clone or something. Didn't Clark get cloned by Lex once?" I suggested.

Kara pointed at me. "You are brilliant, Ames!"

I blushed.

She ran forward and hugged me, causing my cheeks to redden more.

She stepped back, but kept her hold on my shoulders.

"I've gotta go talk to Clark, see what he knows about this." Kara said, suddenly.

"You know what, I can go talk to him. He's probably on his way to visiting Mom and Dad. I haven't visited in a while yet, either." I smiled, remembering him getting on to me for not being a more frequent visitor.

She nodded. "I'm sorry we have to cancel our lunch. I really am, Aimera. Ms. Grant has us working over-time to come up with something to combat the Daily Planet's piece."

I nodded, sullenly. "Yeah, yeah, it's fine. I'll grab lunch with Clark or something after visiting the parents." I put on a smile.

She didn't ask if I was really fine with it much more after that, but I attributed that to her being absent-minded.

I said a hasty goodbye, before leaving, heading for Smallville.

(I know National City and Metropolis are pretty so-so in the comics about their locations. I don't want to get into where they could be located, because I don't want to over-complicate things. So, I've decided, in this fanfiction, Metropolis and National City are sort of sister cities (like Gotham and Bludhaven), being fairly close together, considering Cat Co and the Daily Planet rival one another. Smallville, however, is fairly far away, maybe a two or three hour drive from the two cities, placed in a rural location.)
