I rolled my eyes making sure he noticed, and looked back at my book.

Now where was I..

"Hi..." Carl mumbles quietly, waving his hand a little.

"What?" I sigh under my breath.

Really dont wanna do this now..

He stood there for a moment. You could just feel the awkwardness in the room.

"Sorry, I didn't know what you had been through."

"I don't care." I sigh again. "You're Dad told you to come apologize didn't he?" I arch an eyebrow, closing my book and placing it on the bed.

"Yep. Sure did." He chuckles quietly, crossing his arms over his chest and leaning against the frame on the cell.

"Well, Carl. I accept your apology sent from Rick." I smirk up at him, crossing my ankles on the bed.

He smirked a bit and then murmured something I didn't quite catch. "I'm sorry... What was that?" I ask.

"Are you...like one of those nerdy types that like too read and do homework?" Carl asks, hesitating a little.

"Nah, actually I'm a gamer; well used to be. I like hunting. I'm a smart ass. I'm overprotective of my friends. But I do enjoy reading." I smile lightly, "I hated school work. Wouldn't do it if you paid me."

He laughed quietly, shaking his head as he looked to the ground. "Now fuck off, I'm still mad." I joke, picking my book back up by the spine.

I hear Carl laugh again as he walks away, making a small smile form on my face.

CARLS POV

I walked out of her cell and started thinking, laughing quietly.

I really am sorry for being a complete ass to Tailynn. I was just kind of my at my Dad for him not letting me go on the run they had planned today. I had everything packed and ready to go just to get rejected.

I shook my head a little as if trying to get the thought out of my mind. I didn't want to be in a bad mood anymore. Bad moods ruin everything.

I wonder if the Governor was in a bad mood when he started the war between us. He may have been. I sigh. Being in a war while 13 wasn't exactly on my bucket list. I didn't want to shoot that kid. But, I paniced being the kid I was and shot my gun.

We had just gotten rid of the sickness at the prison and I was missing my only friend Patrick. He died the day of we found it. He actually was the first one with the sickness. So, he's long gone.

My dad was farming his peas so I walked over to him. Picking up a shovel and helping. But, he stops me, "Why don't you go hang out with Tailynn and Rebecca? You need to be a teenager." He suggests.

"Well, for one, I want to help out around here. Besides, you already stopped me from going on the run. And two, Tailynn and I aren't on good speaking terms. Plus I haven't even really met Rebecca." I sigh, leaning onto the shovel.

I'm really glad I have this hat. My shoulders and back are burning from the sun and I wouldnt be able too see without it.

"Have you already got in a fight Carl? I made promise you wouldn't get in fights with anyone. Especially anyone new." He shook his head in disappointment, pinching his temples.

"And I haven't besides this one, Dad. It wasnt really a fight, more of an arguement." I sigh.

"Whatever. I want you to go get Tailynn and take watch with her." Dad demands, pointing a finger towards the prison.

"Dad, I-"

"Now!" He cuts me off, his deep voice rising.

Like the teenager I am, I roll my blue eyes and stomp away.

Walking in, the only person I see is Rebecca. She lays on the bed, reading what looks like an old magazine.

After a few moments of silence and her not seeing me, I speak up. "Where's Tailynn?"

Rebecca jumps, looking up at me with big brown eyes. "In the shower. Why?" She asks.

"My dad is making us go on watch together." I sigh.

"Look, I know Tai is mad at you but dont make her snap again." She warns and I nod. "Can I wait in here till she gets out?" I ask.

"Yeah, sure." She says quietly, patting the spot beside her; then she continued what she was doing.

"How's your life been?" Becca asks, breaking the silence.

"Awesome, now that the dead are walking." I smile sarcastically.

I hear a light knock on the cell and I stand up. Tailynn had changed into a dark color skinny jeans, a blue and silver button up jersy (maybe it was a softball uniform before?) with navy blue converse.

"What's he doing in here again?" She asks referring to me.

I looked at her and rolled my eyes. "I told my dad about our little 'fight' we had and he said we have to go on watch together."

"You should've kept you mouth shut loser." She groans throwing a pillow at me.

I stand there and let it hit me. "Yeah, I guess I deserved that. Now hurry up." I chuckle.

She nods, chuckling.

Tailynn bends over and throws her hair into a pony tail. "Come on loser, lets go!" She says, grabbing my wrist.

"Since when is my name loser?" I ask.

"Since I got here and you pissed me off." She sighs, dropping me wrist.

"I'm guessing your not mad anymore, considering the fact that you aren't killing me for telling my dad and getting us stuck on watch together." I say quietly, hoping she isnt mad at me anymore.

"Nope! I just wanna know you more so we can become friends!" She says popping the 'P' on the Nope.

I laugh quietly and motioned for her to follow me to the guard tower.
