I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing.

Since I was so tired, I ignored the caller ID and answered.

"Hello?" I said annoyed.

"Madelaine! We're meeting tomorrow!" I heard Calum cheer.

"You called me at five in the morning to tell me this why?" I asked.

"Because I don't want you to forget." he said quietly.

"How in the hell could I forget I'm meeting you tomorrow?" I laughed.

"I don't know," he paused. "you're just a forgetful person."

"Well then thanks for reminding me." I said sarcastically.

"You're welcome, love." he said. I could just picture him rolling his eyes at my sarcasm.

"Can I go back to sleep now?" I asked.

"Nope." he said.

"Too bad, Hood. I'm going to sleep." I rolled my eyes.

"If you weren't even going to listen, why'd you ask?" he laughed.

"To be nice, now go away."

"Rude." he said, trying to sound hurt.

"I love you. Goodnight." I sighed.

"Aww, see it's not so hard to be nice. I love you too. Night." he teased.

With that, we hung up and I fell back asleep.

~

When I woke up, it was later than usual. It was around twelve thirty in the afternoon.

I moved out of my mom's house a few months ago after I graduated, so no one was here to wake me up. Except for my cat, Zoe, but she's lazy...and I don't think cats understand the concept of sleeping too late.

Anyway, I got out of bed and went downstairs to the living room and turned the tv on. Even though this apartment is two stories, it's pretty small. Adding four boys to it for awhile is going to be interesting. I didn't really think that through.

Not too long after I had been watching tv, I heard my laptop ringing upstairs. I jumped up and ran upstairs and answered the Skype call.

"Hey Lainey." Calum said.

"Hey loser." I teased.

"I gave you a cute nickname and you call me loser. Rude." he put his hand over his heart as if it hurt.

"Lainey almost sounds like a babyish nickname." I said, walking to my bed. I laid down on my stomach and put the laptop in front of me.

"You are a baby though." he said.

"No I'm not." I defended.

"My baby." he smirked.

"You're such an idiot." I laughed.

"What? That was adorable." he said.

"Sure, I'd love to see you try that on a chick you try to hook up with." I laughed.

"I mean, all I would have to say is 'Hi, I'm Calum Hood' and they would be all over me." he shrugged.

"Cocky much?" I rolled my eyes.

"I was kidding, Madelaine" he paused looking at the other side of the room. "Michael already uses that." he said, earning a 'hey!' from Michael.

After hearing Michael yell, his face appeared on screen.

"I do not use that as a pick up line." he defended.

"True, you're not Calum Hood. You say your name instead."  I said.

"Exactly," he smiled. "wait, no."

Calum and I laughed.

"Fuck you guys." he said walking away.

Calum and I Skyped for a few hours, then he had to go. Their last show was tonight, which was a few states away, so I obviously wasn't going.

I was bored and as if on cue, my one best friend I have that isn't on the internet texted me.

Eventually, when Ella got here I had Netflix and popcorn ready. She had went to the store to get more snacks and stuff ready.

We were mid-movie when we realized the movie we were watching was lame.

"So, aren't you meeting Calum tomorrow?" she asked.

"Yep." I said, eating a piece of popcorn.

"And the rest of the band is coming too?" she asked.

"Yeah, why?" I asked.

She shrugged.

"You're lying." I said.

"What are you talking about?" she asked.

"Why do you want to know if they're coming?" I asked.

"Just wondering." she said, not making eye contact.

"You won't make eye contact. Obvious sign there's a reason you're asking." I pointed out.

"Maybe I think they're cool." she shrugged.

"Oh my god.. Ella!" I squealed.

"What?" she asked.

"You like one of them!" I said.

"What? No. No I don't." she rolled her eyes.

"Sure, sure you don't." I smirked, throwing popcorn at her.

"Do you really wanna start a food fight with me?" she said, throwing popcorn back.

Of course, that ended with popcorn and chips everywhere. Which resulted in us cleaning the living room.

When we finished cleaning, we went back to watching movies.

"You're right." Ella said randomly.

"What?" I asked.

"I like one of them, but don't say anything." she said.

"Which one??" I asked, pausing the movie.

"Not saying," she said. "I've told you too much already."

I rolled my eyes. "Once they're here and you come over, I'll know."

"You like Calum." she shrugged.

"What? Hell no. He's my best friend." I said.

"Best friend that you're in love with." she smirked.

"You're crazy," I laughed. "I'm not in love with my best friend."

"You're denying it, but once he's here right in front of you, you won't be able to." she smirked.

I rolled my eyes.

I'll admit that I had a thing for Calum at first, but three years later, we're too close for me to like him like that. Let alone be in love with him. He might be sweet and adorable and always know when to make me laugh and just seeing him makes me feel better when I'm down and even though he's pretty attractive-

What am I doing? I don't like him like that.
