(A/N: Slight trigger warning! Don't say I didn't warn you.)
Just when I thought everything was going okay, my mom walked in the room.
"Are you serious?" she asked with her hand on her hip.
"What?" I asked.
"Another hospital visit because of something you could of avoided." she said.
I knew where she was going with this, so I tried to hint at her to stop.
"The last hospital visit was a concussion. That wasn't my fault." I said.
"You really think I'm talking about that? No, I'm talking about all the trips that we made here your senior year." she practically yelled.
"Mom, please don't do this right now." I said, moving my eyes to Calum.
"What? Your 'boyfriend' or whatever doesn't know that you were in here all the time?" she rolled her eyes.
"What is she talking about?" Calum asked.
"Nothing," I said turning to my mom. "Please just leave. We can talk later, okay?"
"I'm talking about the god knows how many times that we came here for the most outrageous reasons." she said.
"Mom, stop." I said, raising my voice.
"How come I never heard that you were in here all the time?" Calum asked.
"Because she was afraid of what you would think if you found out that she was in here many times for this exact reason and for trying to commit suicide." my mom said, completely ignoring me.
I looked down and ran out of the room before anyone could say anything. I was still really weak, but I couldn't stand in there any longer listening to my mother spill my deepest secrets that not even my best friend knew.
Before I could even make it down the hallway, I felt a hand grab my arm and spin me around. I couldn't even defend myself before Calum pulled me into a hug.
"Why didn't you tell me?" he whispered.
"I was embarrassed." I said, crying into his chest.
"Okay," he paused, pulling me from his chest and putting each hand on my cheeks. "From now on, you have to promise me that'll you'll tell me when you're feeling depressed. Promise me you won't bottle it up?"
"I promise." I said.
He smiled and pulled me back into the hug, kissing the top of my head.
"I don't know what I would do without you, Madelaine." he said.
~
When I had finally made it home, Calum made me eat something. Knowing I needed to, I did. He remembered one of my favorite foods was mac and cheese, so he made some for me.
Michael, Luke, and Ashton were planning on going home tomorrow, but Calum was staying with me. They decided that almost three weeks of crowding the apartment was enough for my very messed up brain. They wanted to give me space to get better, but Calum was basically my babysitter.
We all decided to sit in the living room and just hang out before they left.
Of course, the guys being the guys ended up picking a horror movie. Horror movies aren't exactly my favorite, but I'd do anything to make these idiots happy.
We were all kind of all over the living room in random spots, but I made sure I was right next to Calum. I knew I would end up clinging to him most of the movie.
~
"We're out of popcorn." Michael whispered half way through the movie.
"Go make some." I said in a duh tone.
"I don't wanna." he whined.
"Then I guess you don't want popcorn." I shrugged.
"Lainey, pleaaasseee." he whined.
I rolled my eyes and grabbed the bowl.
When I walked into the kitchen, I grabbed another bag of popcorn and put it in the microwave. While standing there I heard someone walk in the kitchen. I looked over to see Calum.
"How are you feeling?" he asked.
I shrugged. "I'm okay I guess. I still feel kind of weak. My mom making a scene really didn't help much."
"Maybe she's just worried..?" he suggested.
"Doubtful. Ever since I was a junior my mom hasn't really been a fan of me. Especially after senior year." I said.
"I'm sorry, babe." he frowned.
I shrugged. "It's life, I guess. I don't know what I'll do when you finally have to leave. I don't have anyone here really."
"I mean, I could just kidnap you and take you with me." he laughed.
"I wish." I said.
"What if you didn't have to wish? What if you really came back with me?" he asked.
"You can't be serious." I said.
"I'm serious, Mads. You said you don't really have anyone here. You're family to us, so why not just come back with us?" he said.
"So, you just want me to pack up and leave the US?" I asked.
"Psh, why not? How many people can say they moved to another country with their best friend and his band?" he smirked.
"I wouldn't know. But maybe I'll be able to." I smiled.

After the movie was over, we were all just sitting around on our phones.
"So," Michael said. "When are you guys going to finally date?"
"What?" I asked.
"Well, after the pantry situation, all the flirting, and random kisses I would say you guys are basically dating." he said.
I looked at Calum who was looking at me.
We both shrugged.
"By the time Calum comes back, you guys better be dating." Luke said.
"Actually, speaking of that. What if when I come back, I bring Lainey with me?" he asked.
"Wait, really?" Ashton asked.
He nodded.
"I don't have much left here, so.." I said.
"That would actually be awesome." they all said.
I smiled, finally feeling wanted.
These boys have changed my life. I've known them for three years, but having them around in person is just life changing.
They make me feel like I'm worth something. Especially Calum.
No wonder I see posts about them saving fan's lives all over.
