-two weeks later-

I was almost cleared of my concussion and the guys were still here.

When we got home from the hospital, turns out Ashton was making plans to stay with me a little bit longer. So far, they've been here a week longer than planned and they wanted to stay till they knew I was better.

Calum was still being a jerk, therefore Michael was taking the spot of my best friend in a way.

Michael, Luke, Ashton, and I were all hanging out in my room at the moment. I wanted to start doing things myself, so I went downstairs to get something to drink.

When I walked in the kitchen, Calum was sitting at the table on his phone as usual.

"You know, you could join us upstairs.." I said.

"I'm good down here." he said, not even looking up.

"What the hell is your problem? You've been a complete asshole since we were at the hospital. It's been two weeks already." I said.

"I don't have a problem." he rolled his eyes.

"You clearly do." I said.

"What's yours?" he asked.

I laughed. "I don't have one. I've been the one with a concussion while my best friend ignores me and treats me like shit."

He shrugged.

"Wow, fuck you." I said, walking away.

I walked upstairs and when I walked in my room, I slammed the door.

"Woah, what happened?" Luke asked.

"Calum is being bitch again." I sighed, sitting on my bed.

"He'll get over himself. He's just jealous." Ashton said.

"But why?" I asked.

"When you got hurt, you clung to Michael. He wanted you to cling to him." he said.

"Well Michael was the one that pulled me out of the aftermath of the table falling." I said.

"Don't tell Calum we told you this, but there's more to it. He obviously likes you." Luke said.

"Yeah, I don't think that's it." I rolled my eyes.

"What else could it be?" they asked.

I shrugged.

-

Later that day, we ended up going downstairs. I was aloud to watch tv now, so we decided to watch a movie. Calum joined, but stayed away from me.

"I'm going to go get more popcorn." MIchael said, walking to the kitchen.

"Let's go help." Ashton said, pulling Luke in the kitchen.

I looked at the kitchen doorway confused and paused the movie.

"I'm going to go see why it takes three people to get popcorn." I said quietly.

Calum nodded and I walked to the kitchen.

"You guys aren't even making popcorn." I said.

The three of them jumped and turned around.

"What the hell are you doing in here?" Ashton said.

"Wondering what you three are doing." I said.

"You and Calum are supposed to be making up." Luke rolled his eyes.

"He clearly doesn't want to talk to me. Forget it guys." I said.

"Where's the rest of the popcorn?" Michael asked.

"In the pantry." I said in a duh tone.

"Can you get it?" he asked.

"You're lazy." I said walking in the somewhat walk in pantry.

Before I knew it, the door slammed shut and when I tried to open it, I couldn't.

"Are you kidding me? Open the damn door!" I yelled.

No one answered and a few minutes passed.

Eventually, the door opened and someone was pushed in the pantry.

"What the fuck!" Calum's voice yelled.

"You two aren't coming out till you're best friends again." Luke said as they walked away.

"Lainey? You're in here?" he asked.

"Yep," I sighed.

It was probably only a few minutes, but it felt like hours had passed that we sat in silence.

"Lainey.." Calum said quietly.

"What?" I asked.

"I'm sorry." he said, almost in a whisper.

"For being a complete dick?" I asked.

"Yeah," he said sighing. "I was honestly jealous."

"Why?" I asked.

"You kept clinging to Michael and it just made me jealous." he shrugged.

"But he could never take your spot as my best friend." I said.

"That's the thing..." he trailed.

"What?" I asked.

"I never thought I would be able to admit this, but I feel like I need to. I felt like you and Michael had a thing for each other but...I like you, so I just got jealous." he sighed.

"Wait..what?" I asked.

"Don't act like you didn't know. A best friend doesn't flirt as much as I do. I've tried to make it so obvious, but you never got the hints." he said.

"You're just saying this so I won't be mad anymore." I rolled my eyes.

"I'm not lying, you're just in denial," he said getting closer to me. "I can prove it and prove you feel the same way."

"How?" I asked.

He put his hand on my lower back, pulling me closer if that was even possible.

"I mean, you didn't back away." he said, his breath hitting my lips.

"What does this prove?" I asked.

"It's not this that proves anything," he said as his eyes moved to my lips and back to my eyes. "It's this.."

Next thing I knew, his lips were pressed against mine. I quickly found myself kissing back without even hesitating. My arms snaked around his neck while he now had both hands on my lower back. It wasn't exactly sweet, more like rough, but passionate.

He put his hands on the back of my thighs and lifted me up, sitting me on a self that had a few things on it when something ended up falling. His lips moved to my jawline kissing down my neck trying to find a sweet spot. When he did, I bit my lip trying not to show he found it, but clearly he knew considering he started to nibble and suck at the certain spot. His lips moved back to mine as I teasingly bit his lip.

"Is everything- oh damn." Luke said as he opened the door. Ashton and Michael were behind him.

Calum and I jumped when we heard his voice. When I saw all of them standing there, I looked down trying to hide my the blush forming on my face.

"Okay, well.. I take it y'all made up?" Ashton asked.

"Uh yeah, they were practically fucking." Michael said.

"Oh my god." Calum said, looking away from them.

They walked away laughing. Calum and I just looked at each other and smiled. He helped me down and pecked my lips one more time before we walked out of the pantry, leaving me there in shock.

I don't think any of us saw this coming.
