My mom, carrying the plate of the chocolate cake she baked, slipped on her heels and opened the front door.
I grabbed my phone and earphones and followed her out the house, locking the door behind me.
"Now i want you to be polite." My mom ordered, as we walked towards their house. "And what are you wearing?"
"I'm always polite." I said, shrugging. "It's called a dress." I heard my mother sigh. we got to the front door of the Evans family and i rang the bell.
Shuffling was heard and the door knob jiggled. The door opened and we looked down at our little host.
"Hey Josh." I said, grinning at the kid.
"Karii!" He said, hugging my legs.
"Keira." I said correcting him. He looked at me with wide eyes,
"Sorry!" He said quickly, a paniced expression on his cute little face.
"It's alright." I said, letting out a laugh while i ruffled his hair.
"Welcome Rachel!" Lissa came out of the kitchen and hugged my mom. "Keira!" She greeted cheerfully.
How can a woman this joyful be the mother of the cranky spawn? .... speaking of the devil.
Shane walked down the stairs, wearing a bored expression. what surprised me wasn't the fact he was actually dressed in such a neat way, but that i couldn't help but think about how attractive he looked in that black shirt. I smiled at him but he didn't return the gesture. instead, he shook hands with my mom, who said she was really happy to see him again.
A little hand held mine and i looked down at a grinning Josh.
"Wanna play with me?"
"Hmm, what do you want to play?" I asked, grinning widely.
"Play station!" He said excitedly.
"She'll play with you after dinner, darling." Lissa said, motioning for me to sit at the dining table.
In the next ten minutes, the table was filled with glorious looking food. Lissa had made steak and vegetables with mashed potatoes and white rice oh and lets not forget the pasta!
I smiled as she anounced we 'dig in'. I piled my plate with food and began stuffing my face with the delicious food.
I heard my mom clear her throat and i looked up at her. She widened her eyes, a sign indicating i eat like a lady. I grinned at her and continued devouring my source of nutrition.
Shane sat infront of me, playing with his food. I watched at he stabbed the steak with his fork over and over again. His head shot up and his gaze met mine.
I quickly looked away, one of the reasons being the fact i had hot sauce dripping from my chin.
Dinner was filled with small chatter, coming from the two moms, and Josh's constant asking if me and him can go play video games now.
Shane stood up, his plate still full. His mother neither looked at him nor said anything, but when he left she apologized to my mom for his behavior.
i put the last piece of meat into my mouth and swallowed quickly.
"I'm going to play with Josh now." I said to the two. My mom nodded as Lissa smiled. I got up and pushed my chair back in.
"Where's the bathroom?" I asked.
"Use the one upstairs, the door to the left." I nodded.
I went up the stairs slowly and looked to the left. There were two doors. I inwardly shrugged and went to the first one.
