Chapter 9 - The fear

Riley's POV

Even though i comforted her Ruby still seems restless, she's moving a lot and trying to sleep but she doesn't succeed i can feel that her thoughts are the cause of why she can't sleept. 'Ruubs are you okay?' I ask and i hear her sigh. 'No, not really no.' She replies and pulls herself up and sits on the edge of her bed. 'I can't sleep.' She says quietly. I sit aside her on the bed. 'I figured that out.' I answer. 'I'm sorry that i keeping you up.' She says and she looks at me i put my hand on her cheek. 'I don't care as long as i'm with you.' She smiles and she puts her hand over mine. 'I love being with you.' She says. 'I feel like if you're not with me that i am only half a heart, a half of something good it makes me feel empty.' She continues and i pull her in for a hug. 'I love the way your fingers run through my hair when you hug me.' She says and i can imagine her smiling while saying that. 'I love the way you hold me like you're never going to let me go.' I whisper. 

'Ruby, do you want to see something beautiful?' I ask. 'What?' She asks curiously. I stand up and reach out for her hand, she puts her hand in mind and follows me up to her bedroom window. 'You wanted me to see my window?' She asks dissapointed. 'No.' I say and open the curtain. 'My neighbours house?' She asks. 'No, look closer.' She shakes her head. 'I don't see it.' I sigh. 'It is snowing.' I say. 'So?' She doesn't seem to be impressed. 'I love the snow, i could watch it for hours.' I explain to her. 'It comes and goes.' She answers. 'Yeah it does just like life does, they fall from the sky have their journey down to earth stay here for a while and fade.' I say with a smile on my face. 'That's true.' She replies. I put my arms around her. 'Riley, if i ever leave where do you think i would go?' She says in an insecure tone. 'Up there.' I say and point to the dark blue skye. 'You would become one of those stars.' She looks up at me. 'If your light ever goes out i will shine bright up there.' I say and she smiles. 'But we all have to go sometime.' She says. 'We do.' I agree. 'But we have to live in the now.' I say. 'I will.' She answers and pulls me closer and softly kisses me it feels like we are flying to the moon she makes me float. 'Riley i have one more thing to say.' She whispers. 'And what is that?' I ask quietly. 'I love you to the moon and back.' She says while she cups my cheek with her hand. 'Now off to bed it's late young man.' She says teasingly. 'I will.' I reply.

We both lie down in her bed and she lays her head on my chest. 'I feel better now.' She says softly. 'You do?' I ask. 'Yeah, thank you for showing me those beautiful snowflakes.' She says with a smile on her face. 'The pleasure is all your milady.' I tease her and it makes her giggle. 'I think i could possibly fall asleep to this.' I frown. 'What do you mean?' She looks up at me. 'Your heartbeat.' I smile. 'Goodnight babe.' She whispers. I softly place a kiss on her forehead and then turn the lights off. 

In the morning i get woken up by Ruby who smacked a pillow in my face. 'Auwtch!' I mumble. 'Goodmorning sunshine!' She says with a smile. 'Look at you al being all smiley.' I say. 'I know, i'm sorry for being so rude to you yesterday it's not your fault you know.' She explains. 'I wasn't angry at you i mean i get it that you get frustrated with it and i would never blame you for getting angry about it, i know i would if i was in your shoes.' I answer. 'I guess my mom was right your that thing that makes me feel better.' She says with i smile and i hug her. 'Know that i'm always here you babe.' I whisper in her ear. I want to kiss her but she pulls away. 'I would love to do that, but i won't because we both have a morningbreath and it's not that pleasant to kiss then.' We both laugh. 'Let's go downstairs shall we?' I propose. 

Her parents are already sitting at the table. 'Goodmorning darling how did you sleep.' Her dad asks and i feel kind off uncomfortable invading their privacy. 'Quite good actually.' She replies. 'And how about you Riley?' He asks it takes a while before a realise it was directed to me. 'Good mister Ferras.' I answer his question. 'You can call me Pete.' He says with a welcoming smile. 'And you can call me Gwen.' Her mom adds to that. 'Ruby before i forget i got an e-mail from the hospital.' He mom says and can feel Ruby's heart explode, i can feel her fear increase and grab her hand and she looks at me. 'It's okay.' I whisper. 'They informed us about the wrong thecnique they're going to use a P.E.T scan not an MRI your doctor was mistaken so he apologises for that.' She informs her and Ruby finally breaths again.
