Chapter 2- Secrets

Ruby's POV

I'm walking with Riley we're going to work on the group project today. He must think i'm weird 'cause i have barely talked to him today i'm just worried about my health even though i've been doing good for two years. I notice that he's looking at me from the corner of my eye there's a faint smile on his face. 'You're not much of a talker are you?' He asks while he comes little closer to me. 'Just not today.' I replied and i looked at him. He is wearing a grey beanie that looks really cute on him i shouldn't be thinking this. 'I like your beanie.' I said with a little smile. 'Thank you, it's nothing special actually.' He laughs. 'I didn't expect it to be i just like the way it looks on you.' I say. 'Oh thanks.' He says with a grin. 'So do you walk to school a lot?' I asked out of curiousity and to keep the conversation going. 'I do most of the times it's good for your health and for the envoirement.' He says with a wink. 

Riley's POV

That made her laugh her laugh is so contagious i laugh with her. 'Have we decided on what counrty we are going to talk about yet?' I ask her. 'I would love to do Indonesia.' She replies with a smile on her face. 'And why is that.' I ask out of curiousity. 'I just really have fascination for that indonesia and i would just love to visit one day.' She sounds so convinced when she said that. 'Okay Indonesia it will be then.' I say. The leaves were falling down as we were walking coming closer to my house i saw Ruby wrapping her scarf around her neck. 'Are you cold?' I asked i little bit worried. 'Just a little chilly.' She replied. 'I'll make us some tea when we're at my house.' I wanted to wrap my arm around her but i didn't dare to.

Ruby's POV

We arrive at his house which was warmer than it was outside luckily. Riley is in the kitchen making us tea while i sort out the information about Indonesia that i found. He was in the kitchen for almost 15 minutes since when does it take so long to make some tea? I walk over the kitch door before i could even knock Riley opens the door. 'Ruby would you like honey in your te...' He doesn't finish his sentence because he is practically in my face. 'Hi.' i say a little shy becuase he was so close to me. 'Hi, would you like tea in your honey?' He asks confused and i laugh. 'You mean honey in my tea?' I correct him. 'I'm sorry i was...you know...' He stumbles. 'I would love honey.' I say. Our eyes still didn't stop making contact there was something so dreamy about his hazel eyes. Snap out it if Ruby it's not good for you i think to myself. 

Riley's POV

Her eyes were a light gray beautiful i can't stop staring at them. I can feel my heart skip a beat just by the way she looks at me. I don't know much about her yet but i want too i want to know what she's all about i want to make her smile and make her feel happy. I snap out of it as soon as i hear 'What about that tea?'

Ruby's POV

'What about that tea?' I ask while he is still staring into my eyes. 'Yeah sure i'll get it.' He says. We both sit down at his table starting to discuss about Indonesia when i ask him what country he would like to visit. 'I would love to got to Venice in Italy, i know it might sound typical but it's so beautiful and all the things it has to offer i would love to go there.' He says while he is dreaming. 'Yeah i think Venice is something you should really see once in your life.' I say. We actually wrote down some great things for the project which we had to turn in next week. I noticed a slight pain in my chest area oh crap.

My expression changed from a smile to a worried, scared emotion. 'Are you okay?' He asked worried. 'Yeah, i'm absolutly fine.' i say  but i can tell he isn't buying my bullshit. 'If there's one thing my taught me when a girl says she's fine she is lying and i can tell you are lying.' He says . 'I don't want to talk about it i really don't want to it's already hard enough.' I stutter i could feel the lump in my throat. 

'What if i tell you something that i don't like to talk about and you tell me?' He asks he sounds so worried. I shook my head. 'I don't know Riley.' I don't know if i was ready to share it with him. 'Okay but i'm going to tell you something about me.' I nod and it takes him some time before he starts talking. 'My mom... abandoned me and my sister when i was just five years old and i have never seen her since i just live with my dad and i'm scared people are going to leave me behind.' I can see his eyes tearing up. 'I have no idea why she did it.' He mutters while he is trying to hold back his tears. I take a hold of his hand. 'I'm so sorry.' I whisper. 'It's not your fault she left it just hurts.' He says and he squeezes my hand. 

I take a deep breath. 'I got diagnosed with cancer when is was 14.' I say it was always hard for me to get it out there.

Riley's POV

My jaw almost dropped. 'What?' I ask in shock. 'Yup, i had cancer the found a tumor on my lungs and the could remove it with surgery and then afterwards i had to get chemo i battled for 2 years.' I could not believe what she is telling me someone of my age could get diagnosed with cancer? 'When i was 16 they told me it was as good as gone but i don't believe them i'm scared it's going to come back .' She was fighting against the tears but the came streaming down her face. 'Come here.' I said as i spread my arms to hug her. I held her tightly i was not planning on letting her go anytime soon. 'You're safe.' Whispered. 'I'm here for you i promise.' I said as i rubbed her back to calm her down.

Hi thank you for reading if you did i appreciate it. I'm sorry Ruby had so much to say but i felt like it was kind of nessacery because she had get her secret out there and that's why has some more text but i'll promise Riley will get some more too.
