Lullaby

Sitting alone in the forest made her gain some vague memories from her past. A faint light girl voice keeps singing in her head, a soft melody along with the lyrics. [Name] feels like she should remember the source of this voice but the more she tries to remember she gets lost in the song. Slowly she starts humming along with the melody in her head. Soon enough she can make out the lyrics too.

"One mischievous little woodpecker.

Another day, pecking your holes.

Ruining the woods, tree wrecker."

Yes, it's starting to come back...

" The angry old forest god turned

you poor beak into a poison knife.

Your nesting holes are all tainted,

your foods with toxins rife.

Touch your friends, and

they will die falling at your feet.

Oh, sad little woodpecker.

Poisonous tears, streaming brightly,

as they stream down your cheeks."

[Name] is sure that it's not her voice she is hearing, it's too timid and innocent. Yet, still slightly terrifying.

"What does it even mean?" A deep sigh escapes her lips, she wonder what the others are doing? Are they looking for her or did they just leave her alone.

"You know you're not like the others?" The girl who sang is telling [Name].

"What do you mean?"

"You won't stay here for long, they are coming to get you." She says simply.

"Who?" [Name] is not really enjoying her stay here but she don't want to leave for another place, she has a friend here. Her first friend.

The girl giggles.

"You'll see, but you will never come back here." The shadow of the girl disappears in a bright light. [Name] reaches after the black silhouette.

"Hey!" She crawls after her.

"Come back!"

"What do you mean, I just got here?" [Name] looks up and sees Neji. Confusedly she looks around for the small silhouette.

"She.... Left?" Neji checks for another entity around but can't see anything. [Name] shakes her head, that must've been another memory fragment.

"Never mind Neji, what are you doing here?"

"What do you think, I am looking for you." [Name] rises an eyebrow, why would he search for her? She is pretty sure the man dislikes her immensely.

"It's an order, now come on let's go [Name]." Without another word he turns around and is about to walk away when he looks over his shoulder, noticing the girl is spacing out.

"Do you think I am a monster now?" Those words surprised him a lot, he could understand why she would think that but of course he didn't think that. This is the second time she has saved him, he has already understood that she is innocent.

"No I don't, why do you ask?" Neji turns around and squats down in front of her so he can see her face more clearly.

"I just... That's what I keep hearing inside of my head.." A small recap of what she remembers this far plays inside her head.
