Put fate on hold - Neji x Reader.

Safety first

"[Name] where were you?" Neji walks up to her and checks if she is hurt.

"Neji I am fine, I was just talking to those girls from before." She easily declares.

"Ya I could have gotten hurt bla bla but I am find, I searched after them to ask them a few questions. I didn't get any answers though...." [Name] continues before he could say anything else. She turns away in the directing she came from, changing to a serious mood.

"When I got to them they were at first wary of me but when I told them my story.... They changed, urging me to run back here and stay with someone for the rest of the night." She looks back at Neji.

"Whatever that was about, they are not dangerous anymore I can guarantee you that." [Name] looks down before she looks up at Neji. He suddenly hugs her tightly, mumbling into her hair.

"Don't run off like that, I don't want to lose you [Name]. You're the most precious thing I have in this world, without you I feel like I can barely breathe." He lowly mumbles. [Name] puts her head in the crook of his neck, inhaling his calming scent.

"I am so sorry Neji." [Name] whispers.

"You know that I really love you, right?" She continues.

"And I love you to the stars and beyond, [Name]." He answers back.

"oh oKAY JUST SHOVE IT IN EVERYONES FACE THAT YOU HAVE FOUND LOVE YA JUST DO IT SEE IF I CARE!" Tenten screams from a distance away, feeling all alone by their big display of mushiness. Neji lets go and walks up to Tenten, apologizing but [Name] does not really agree with that. She jumps up on his back for a piggyback ride.

"Tenten you can also find love, just believeeeee." [Name] clutches her fist trying to be inspirational. Tenten's eyebrow slightly twitches. [Name] notices her mood change and whispers in Neji's ear.

"Run my mighty steed, or else the ogre will get me."

"[Name] you're in big trouble now!" Tenten yells at her.

"Told you." [Name] looks down at Neji. But Neji has no intentions of being her mighty steed so he lets go and dumps [Name] on the ground, giving her a pompous smile.

"Looks like your 'mighty steed' is not as helping as you thought." He casually says. [Name] makes a sad face, trying to change his mind but he is not changing his mind.

"okay YOU HAVE TURNED INTO A POTATO AGAIN AND I DON'T APPRECIATE IT!" She yells before taking off, running away from Tenten's rage.

"What's going on here?" A female voice from nowhere asks. All of them stops and turns around. It's Sam, standing in the middle of the road with her friendly companion Sythrok behind her, scaring the bejesus out of Tenten and Neji. [Name] is only curious and runs up to the dragon, petting him happily.

"Who's a good lizard huh?" She makes a kiss face towards him.

"I am no lizard." The dragons mighty dark voice tells her off. [Name] doesn't care, she just continue treat him like a little baby.

"What are you doing here?" Neji walks up to her with crossed arms.

"My name is Sam and I am here to protect [Name] from what is about to come." She bows as an introduction. Neji is caught off guard, Tenten is also a bit shocked by what she said.

"We have come together and decided to protect her from the solider the institute sent."

"Is she in danger?" Tenten hastily asks and Sam nods.

"As of this moment, yes." She calmly explains. Tenten and Neji looks at each other, almost telepathically agreeing on what to do.

"We will stay here, you go and get the others available." Neji orders Tenten.

"Yes." She takes off. Neji grabs [Name]'s arm and looks her seriously in the eyes.

"What ever is going to happen, please stay by my side." His eyes filled with worry, [Name] nods to assure him.

"Good, now whats the plan?" Neji looks over to Sam again.

"We need to wait for my other comrades, all of us have a slight idea who about they sent and we can with that make some sort of plan."

"Alright, let's head to Tsunade's office when they arrive."

After the arrival of the rest of Sam's companions they all go together to Tsunade's office. In there they all introduce themselves and explain the situation. Tsunade is of course worried about [Name] but cannot put the village at risk. A decision is made, they will put together a small team besides the three girls, to protect [Name]. They will all leave to a hut in the woods so if a fight would arise the village will not face any danger. Tsunade sends [Name] off to gather some necessities and she will alert the team she put together. Sam is going to escort [Name] to her home and shortly afterwards to the gates at the rendezvous point. At given signal everyone takes off and does as they are told.

"Oh I wonder who are going to join us!" [Name] happily struts after Sam, not really grasping the severity of the situation.

"You don't really understand what's going on do you-"

"I absolutely dooooooon't." She cuts Sam off.

"We were supposed to kill this airhead? Geez she couldn't even hurt a snail...." Sam mumbles to herself. In now silence they walk to the gates where everyone is waiting. As said, a small team consisting of five members. No, it's not small, I was being sarcastic.

"Why are you all here?" [Name] asks them all. Of course her old team, Neji, Tenten and Lee but now they are accompanied by Sakura and Naruto. Sakura is glaring at Naruto, not exactly happy by his presence.

"Naruto what are you doing here?" Sakura irritatedly asks the blonde boy.

"You see Bushy Brows get too go an a mission and there was a long time ago I was on a mission so I thought I could join you guys!" He answers while grinning like a small innocent boy. Sakura only groans loudly.

"We ready to go?" Anastasia cuts the conversation. Everyone gives a agreeing nod.

"Then we are leaving."

They arrive at a small hut in the middle of nowhere, hidden from mostly everything. Inside the hut it's barely furnished, only a pair of futon's lying on the floor. [Name] enters the hut and lays down on one of the futon's, sighing happily.

"What a fun adventure we're on!" She rolls around on the futon, enjoying the softness. Neji sits down beside her, looking at her gravely.

"Don't you understand what's going on [Name]?" He asks her.

"What do you mean, this is an adventure-"

"Seriously [Name]..." He looks at the girl, now lying face down on the futon. She sits back up, averting his gaze.

"Of course I am scared, I just don't know how to act when I am scared like this." She shrugs, trying to hide her fearful stricken face. Neji puts his hand on her cheek, making her look up at him.

"You don't have too worry [Name], I won't let anything happen to you." He smiles gently, the smile he gives her when no one is around. [Name] gets up closer, hugging him tightly. He puts his arms around her, resting his chin on her head.

"It's getting late, you should go to bed. We don't know how long we will be here." He looks at her face, she is not really happy about it but decides to cooperate.

"We will be right outside, guarding you so just scream if anything is wrong okay?" Neji softly asks her. [Name] nods in response, letting go of him but not before getting a small goodnight kiss. He gets up and walks out the door, leaving her alone in here. [Name] quickly snakes down into bed, getting all comfy although no calm setting. Soon enough she falls into a dreamless sleep.

"Hmm, little girl why do you look so sad?"
