*Jah Youth
I was in a deep slumber until Twist busted into my hotel room. We were staying at a hotel for the night then leave after the show.
“Yo your phone been going off non-stop.” He said tossing my Iphone on the bed.
“My bad.” I muttered still well into my sleep
Checking who the missed calls came from I nearly jumped out of my skin. I had a ton of miss calls from Janelle. Quickly re-dialing her number someone picked up.
“Hello.” Nariah answered sounding out of breath
“Everything okay?” I asked
“No! We were in a car accident and Janelle is out.” She explained in one breath
“Wait, what?!” I jumped up
“Jah listen...you need to get down here like yesterday. She needs you.” She sounded as if she was about to cry.
Nodding my head as if she could see me I then started to get dressed. “Give me 5 minutes and I’ll be there. Which hospital y’all at?” I asked stuffing my feet into my timberland boots.
“We at the downtown one.” She said
“Okay I’m on my way.” I said before hanging up
Grabbing my keys and jacket I rushed out my room to the living room where everyone sat.
“Wassup yo?” Twist asked
“My girl just got in a car crash I gotta go.” I said not fully believing my own words.
“What?” Twist asked
I didn’t have time to explain what happened hell I didn’t even know the full story.
“Aight we’ll be there shortly.” He nodded his head
Twist was my homie, my boy he always had my best at heart. Sending him one last nod, I rushed out the hotel to one of the big black trucks they had for us.
I swearved all through the different lanes, cutting people off all to get to the most important people in my life at this point. When I pulled up I hopped out leaving the car running.
“Uh sir you can’t just run in here without coming to us!” The woman at the front desk yelled
“Look I’m here for Janelle Lopez.” It rushed out and that’s when it hit me...I wanted to give this woman my last name. Lopez. It sounded so right. Janelle Lopez.
The woman’s eyes soften “Janelle Lopez has been waiting for you almost all afternoon, she’s in room 800.” The woman said
“Thank you.” I ran off in the end of 700’s hall until I ran smack into room 800. Twisting the knob to the door the first thing I seen was Nariah’s scared face to Janelle’s little body wrapped up in a blanket. She was up...her face painted with pain and hurt...but she was up.
“Jah!” Riah yelped running into my arms
“You’re here.” She mumbled into my hoodie
“Are you kidding me…I wouldn’t miss it for the world.” I grinned at her a little kissing her forehead.
After giving my little sister a long over do hug I went to awoken Janelle’s bed side.
“How you doing baby?” I asked her softly
“I’m fine.” She muttered
This was my life right here...I can’t even seem to gather in my head the amount of pain I would be in if I lost her.
Before she could get another word out her doctor came in with a bright smile.
“Hello Janelle.” He said grabbing her chart that sat at the end of her bed.
“Hello...is everything ok?” she asked sitting up
“Yes...we ran some test. Minor cuts a few bruises here and there but you both are okay.” He said looking up from his work.
“Both?” I asked
To the look of Riaha she seemed fine. Sure a few cuts but she was fine.
“Yes Janelle and the baby.” He finally let his full smile show.
Pause...baby? Hold up while I take a nap on the floor.
* Janelle
Did I just heat this man correct?
“Come again…” I finally I found my voice to speak
“You’re 3 weeks pregnant.” He confirmed
“What do you mean...I had no signs of being pregnant.” I shook my head from left to right. This couldn’t be. Sure Jah and I had...but like the doctor said that was over 3 weeks ago, I think I would have known.
“Which brings me to the next issue, you tested extremely high on your stress test. Due to the huge amount of stress you’ve been going through decreased the signs of pregnancy.” He explained and it all made sense. But I couldn’t help but feel so bad. My mother taught me better than this than to stress. My whole life I’ve been dealing with stress...It’s half the reason why everything has to be in order. How could I be so careless and not take care of my body.
Jah quickly grabbed my hand rubbing his thumb along the back of my hand. He looked scared beyond straight.
“So now what doc...is there meds she can take, stress free classes...what do we have to do to keep my kid safe.” Jah spoke shocking me
The way he spoke of our unborn child made me feel better knowing that he too wanted this baby.
“Well as of now we have her on a strict diet, Janelle you need to rest. No overworking your and most importantly no over worrying yourself. We have a few other minor test to run, so I’ll be in and out of here, but until then relax and enjoy your family.” Dr. Harris smiled more putting my chart back in its place and closing the door leaving Jah, Riaha and myself
“Sooo...I’ma be a aunty?” Riaha asked cracking a smile
“Get over here!” I laughed at this silly girl
I can truly say I loved this girl like she was my sister.
She ran over to me hugging me tightly
“You scared me girl.” She muttered
“I know I’m sorry baby, I love you.” I smiled kissing her
“Love you too...I’m gonna go get something to eat while you too talk.” She said releasing me and walking out
Then there were two. Jah sat near the door with his head down thinking hard. “Why you all the way over there baby?” I asked grabbing his attention
He looked up locking eyes with me and slowly made his way to me. Grabbing the back of my neck he pressed our foreheads together.
“You wanna tell me what happened back there Nell?” He mumbled closely to my lips.
