Two months later...
"I'm sorry Mr. and Mrs. West. We can't help you," The agent of the adoption agency said closing her desk draw. This was the tenth adoption agency Wally and Artemis have went to. Plus, this one wasn't in New York. It was in Tennessee. It was the one the old couple said to go to.
"But, why not. We fulfill all of the requirements," Artemis said tears coming to her eyes.
"Mrs. West, while you fulfill the requirements, you lack a safe environment. You being retired heroes proposes a possible threat for any future children."
"But we're retired heroes," Wally said.
"Yes, but the villains still know you're out there, do they not?"
"We were referred to you by friends," Artemis said her voice threatening to crack, "They said you could help us."
"We can in most cases. But this is a very different case. I'm sorry. Now, if you excuse me, I have another family that wants to adopt," the agent said and fixed her hair.
"Listen Angie," Wally said standing up.
"It's Agnes," the agent said and frowned.
"Listen Agnes. Do you want to know how many agencies we've been to? How many babies we've fallen in love with just to be told we can't adopt them? Ten, eleven counting yours! I was told we may not be able to have anymore children! So, we decided to adopt. Well, obviously we can't do that either! You're sorry. Phfff, you're not the one who lost twins! You're not the one who can't have anymore! YOU'RE NOT THE ONE WHO CAN'T ADOPT!!! You know what, I'm sorry. I'm sorry the people who work here have hearts of stone!" Wally said and grabbed Artemis's hand, leading the way to the door. "And I'll be sure to warn everyone who wants to come here what lousy service you have!"
And with that Wally stormed out of the room, with Artemis in tow. Wally would find a way for them to have children, he was sure of it.
Little did they know what would come in 2 months......
