Amber's P.O.V
I really wish Parker had asked me to sit with him, but that was okay. I mean, I didn't blame him. He seemed like he had a lot of homework. And unlike me, he was a terrific student that didn't really procrastinate at all. He was driven to do his very best and exceed in all of his academic efforts - a very admirable trait, if you ask me.
Anyway, I wouldn't have been able to sit with him even if he'd offered. I had to bike over to Joy's house to help her out with packing. Although, I'm pretty sure she just wanted my company. We didn't see each other terribly often because we were in different classes. But, when she called me asking for help, I readily agreed, strongly embracing the chance to hang out.
We were going on a school trip in a couple of days and we both had a lot of preparation to do. So, I quickly finished my drink, disposed of the cup and mounted my bike.
The weather was just about perfect, as Autumn was right around the corner. It had been a good summer. I met a lot of good people, involved myself in a lot of things that gave me lifelong memories and now, I was ready to get back into the normal cycle of life.
The breeze was beating against my face and the air was perfect I reached my best friend's doorstep.
I knocked the special knock I did, to assure her it was me. Seconds later, the door flung opened and I was tackle hugged by the raven-haired girl.
"Heyyy," she squealed, tightening her grasp.
I giggled. "Hi, Joy!"
"C'mon in. I already pulled out most of what I need to take."
I followed her to her bedroom. The walls were painted a faded lilac and her comforter was made to match. It was immaculate, as it always was. I wondered how she kept it that way on such a consistent basis. Either way, I loved it. I picked up one of her flowery pillows and flopped down onto her bed, hugging it.
"So," she grinned at me as she sat on the floor and dragged out a couple sets of clothing from her closet. "How's Parker doing?"
I rolled my eyes and pulled my phone out. "Why don't you ask Parker?"
She laughed. "You know what I mean. Did you see him today?"
"Yes...."
"And?"
"Nothing really. We acknowledged each other and that was all there was to it." I replied quite matter-of-factly.
"Did he look...interested?"
"Gosh, Joy. He looked like he was doing homework." I grinned and tossed the pillow I'd been hugging at her face. "Enough about Parker. Are you excited for the trip?"
"Um, obviously. And, I'm sure you are too." she smirked as she folded a couple pairs of jeans and put them into her suitcase.
"Joy, please. Stop implying things." I leaned back against her headboard as I scrolled Facebook.
"I'm just saying.... Parker will be glad to see you, at least." she winked.
"You make it sound like he's interested."
"Maybe he is." she shrugged.
"And maybe he's not." I mockingly imitated her shrug.
"And maybe you'll find out on this trip!"
"He might not even come."
"Who doesn't want to go on a train to a famous laboratory in Los Angeles? You know he'll be there. It's mandatory. And I'll make it my personal business to set you two up."
"You're awful." I grinned, waving my hand. "Let's just hurry up and pack. I have homework I pushed off from last night."
"Fine," she sighed. Then added, "You're such a procrastinator."
I shrugged. "Hey, as long as I get it done."
She threw a jacket at my face and we were laughing and back to packing within a fraction of minutes.
Parker didn't come up in the conversation anymore. But he definitely stayed on my mind....A/N I KNOW IT'S EARLY ON, BUT ARE YOU GUYS SHIPPING AMBER AND PARKER?? DO YOU THINK THEY'LL END UP TOGETHER OR NAH? VOTE AND COMMENT!!
