Amber's P.O.V.

"So, how was your visit with Parker?" Joy smirked, climbing into the bed next to mine. She tugged on the fluffy blanket tucked under her mattress and crawled underneath, her head popping up and resting on her pillow. She looked at me expectantly.
"I didn't visit. I put the inhaler on his doorstep and left before he could answer." I replied, rolling over to face her.
"Okay then, how about the balcony talk?" she asked.
I sighed, pulling a blanket up to my chin "You're just eager to see something happen between us, aren't you?"
"Weeeellll..." I caught the teasing look in her eye.
"Look, we don't know each other that well yet. I'm going to take this slow. He might not even be interested, like I've said before."
"I think he's interested. His eyes glitter when he talks to you."
"They probably glitter at everyone." I argued, shaking my head.
Let's just go to sleep if we aren't going to come up with a conclusion.." she replied. "I hate wondering things I won't know the answer too." I could tell by her tone that she thought she knew the answer.
"Well, me too. But, it's better to wonder than jump to conclusion...."
"I guess so." she giggled.
I reached over for the lamp and cut the light off. "Night, Joy."
"Night, Amber."

*beep beep beep*

"Wakkeee up, Amber! It's time to go, go, gooo!" Joy aggressively shoved me as she pounced on my bed.
I grumbled in response.
"C'mon. Amber!" She threw a pillow at me.
"Okay, okay! I'm up!" I stretched as I slowly sat up in bed and yawned a nice long yawn.
"We have to be at the laboratory in an hour and you're not even dressed for breakfast yet!"

"I'm tired, Joy. I had a long night last night." I forced myself onto my feet and shivered as I peeked out the window.
It was extremely cold and still dim out. The sun wasn't even peeking up yet and the sky was painted soft, pastel colors.
I stumbled towards my bag and bent down, shivering still and longing to get back into bed.
I picked an outfit from the bursting suitcase and quickly walked to the bathroom, my feet pattering quickly across the freezing, cold floor.
I breathed in the fresh smell that hotels have and grabbed the bar soap off the counter.
It smelled so good.
Reaching over to the shower handle, I turned it on and let hot water run over my hand.
I smiled.
The water never got this hot at home.
After I took my shower and put on the outfit I'd picked, I headed downstairs to meet Joy in hopes that I'd catch a quick bite at the complimentary breakfast.
I peeked at my watch and sighed.
I guess I spent a few too many minutes in the shower. I walked into the lobby, turning the corner.
Sure enough, as I walked into the breakfast bar, it was vacant other than a couple workers cleaning up, and the glass doors were locked.
I turned around with my shoulders slumped in disappointment, when suddenly I felt a buzz in my pocket.
I pulled my phone out and read the text-
Joy: picked up your breakfast, ya slow poke. Meet us outside before we leave you.
I grinned, slipped my phone back into my bag and took off towards the doors.
The moment I got outside, cold air hit my face and I just breathed.
The sun was up and shining gorgeously. I walked across the slightly damp pavement, resulting from the early morning fog, towards our van we used for transportation.
The laboratory was a five minute drive away so, we could've walked. But, apparently our teachers had different ideas.

A shame, I thought as I approached the van. It's so pretty out. Hopefully we can walk tomorrow.

"Look who finally decided to join the party." I looked up to see Joy leaning against the end of the van, grinning. I wen to take the bagel she was holding out to me.

"Thanks, Joy." I grinned.

"Hey, next time maybe you shouldn't sleep in so late." She giggled.

"I didn't hear my alarm!" I laughed.
