all too well"Don't give so much of yourself to others that you end up losing yourself."

Miles and I decided to do something friends would do because it was Saturday night and we wanted to improve our friendship. There was nothing we could both agree on because it was either too dangerous or too boring and that's why we ended up in this grocery store just a few streets down his flat: We decided to cook. Once he agreed, he walked straight out of the house and down the stairs while he dragged me with him. He didn't even give me a few seconds to get dressed properly and that's why I stood in this rather crowded store with really short shorts, an old shirt and a middle-length cardigan. To say that I felt extremely uncomfortable was not even close to how I felt.
"Should we buy these or those?" Miles asked as he held two different varieties of mushrooms in his hands. One were brown and the other were white.
"Brown. I personally love the brown ones," I said as I grabbed the mushrooms out of his left hand and put them into our empty shopping cart. Neither of us had any sort of idea what we should cook but we were still buying a few random items and would probably decide spontaneously at home.
"What about potatoes or spinach?" He asked as we drove the cart a few feet away.
"I don't know," I shrugged, stopping the cart from strolling further. "Potatoes sound good to me right now," I admitted. Miles grabbed a sack of potatoes and threw them into the cart right away. This grocery store was huge and I knew we wouldn't manage to get out of here within an hour although I was starving already.
We also went over to the noodles, fish and meat aisles. Somehow I was craving meat and noodles for the past few days. The diner close to our school has the best food and I constantly thought about it, so maybe Miles and I could try to copy one of his meals even though we would fail miserably.
About thirty minutes later, our shopping cart was full of food and I could hardly wait to get back to Miles' apartment to cook all of this - let alone eat all of this. Miles was getting just as impatient as me as he began to take larger steps towards the cashier but I caused him to turn back around as I asked, "What about desert?"
"I'll have you as desert," he said casually before he laughed and it took me a few seconds to understand what he meant by that. Once I did I shot him a glare but smiled like an idiot right after.
I looked to my left and right just to make sure that no one heard him. "I'm serious!" I leaned on the shopping cart and waited for him to get back next to me so we could go over and get actual desert.
"I am serious too." He laughed as I shot him another glare, "I don't know about you though. Get yourself some cake or whatever."
"We both are going to get cake, come on." I walked over to him and intertwined my hand with his. I had to bite onto my lower lip because this feeling was still new to me. His hand felt so large compared to mine, it didn't feel soft though. It felt rough. He didn't hold my hand as tightly as I held his and soon enough I let go of it to grab the shopping cart again.
There were a few minutes of silence before I asked, "Chocolate or lemon cake?"
He rubbed his neck before he just said, "Chocolate."
As I was about to put the cake into the cart as well, I saw two shoes - which belonged to a girl - next to me. I looked up to find Elsa, one of Mandy's close friends standing in front of me. I remember her from that one party I attended a couple of weeks ago. The party that ruined my friendship with Mandy officially.
