Better Days

"Finally we're done." I say outloud as I sit down on my brand new couch.

It's about 10pm, Lamar and I just finished setting up in my house. Everything looks great but I'm so tired its been a long day.

"Thank you for helping me Lamar. I know you leave for Japan tomorrow and it's nice that you came to help me."

"Don't thank me sis, you needed help so I came." He smiled at me and I returned it.

"When does your flight leave?"

"7 in the morning." I can tell by his voice that he is extremely excited to go back.

Lamar loves it in Japan he always tells me that whenever he goes it gives him a lot of inspiration. I'm sad that he'll be gone so long, I'll never tell him that though. He works hard and he definitely deserves a break but I'm going to be lonely without him.

We sit and talk till about 10:30 then he leaves to get rest for his long trip tomorrow. I go into my bedroom and lie down on the bed. Earlier today I went by Abel's house to get the rest of my things and I was right he wasn't there. The house was trashed but my things looked untouched. While I was there I couldn't help but to think about all the shit we went through together. I really thought we were going to last and like all my other relationships I was wrong. I spend a lot of time thinking about him when I really shouldn't he's probably already moved on and so should I. I close my eyes and take a deep breath before cuddling myself under the covers. I stare out the window next to me until I fall asleep.

The next morning I am up bright and early because of my morning sickness. Today I'm going to meet the man I'm hopefully gonna get to work for. I need this job and not only for the money but it's a chance to meet new people. I get dressed in a olive pencil skirt, white blouse and a black blazer. I might as well enjoy my clothes before most of them don't fit anymore. I put my hair in a bun before slipping on heels and leaving my house.

"Good morning Lucy." I wave to the young girl across the street.

She smiles and waves at me before going back and playing with her baby alive doll.

I chuckle a little while getting inside my car. The thought of buying toys for my little one comes in my mind and it plasters a smile on my face. I can't wait to spoil my baby, the months need to go by quicker.

It takes me 20 minutes to make it to the big building downtown. I park my car before heading inside.

"Good morning Miss how may I help you." I approach the overly happy lady at the front desk.

"Good morning I'm here to see Jackson McCain."

"Oh right he told me that he was expecting someone. Take the elevator up to the 8th floor and got into the room on the right." She instructs with a smile.

"Okay thank you." I reply with a smile.

Looking around the place I can tell that they are serious about what they do. Nothing looks out of place and it is surprisingly quiet with a large amount of people around. I steep onto the elevator and smile at the man in the suit.

"What floor?" I ask since I'm standing by the buttons.

"5th floor please." I nod push the buttons and the elevator doors slowly close.

I glance up a the tv screen and see that it'll be 94 degrees out today. I better make sure to drink plenty of water today.

"Have a good day." The nice man says before leaving the elevator.

I make it up to the 8th floor and follow the directions. I walk into the office space and see a tall blonde man on the phone. When he notices me he hangs up and smiles.

"Hello you must be Kaelynn."

"Yes that's me." We greet each other with a nice firm handshake.

"You're right on time! Please take a seat."

I chuckle and sit on the opposite side of the desk.

"I've looked at your resume and it's pretty good. You're well qualified and I think you'll make a good fit around here."

"Thank you Mr.McCain." I say with a tone of happiness.

"Derek has already told me that you a pregnant and that's fine. I'll give you two months off once you deliver." He looks at me before putting on his glasses.

"That sounds great."

"As you probably already know I own a number of businesses around California and I need your help. Your job description is that you manage my office phone, make and manage appointments for me. Also when I'm busy or out of town you stop by some of the businesses I own and make sure everything is going smoothly." He explains to me. "Oh and days that you have doctors appointments you'll have that day off."

"Yes that's great, thank you for this amazing opportunity."

"No need to thank me Kaelynn. If you can start Monday at 8am then that would be good." He stands and so do I.

I nod my head "Yes, I can start Monday!"

"Alright well I'll see you Monday bright and early." He says while shaking my hand again.

I leave the office and get back on the elevator. Yes! I got the job I am so happy I laugh out loud and do a little happy dance. The old Kaelynn is back.

Abels pov

I've been locked up in my Toronto apartment for two days now. On the bright side I have wrote three songs. I've also done a lot of thinking, drinking and smoking. Sometimes throughout the day I've been tempted to pick up my phone and call Kaelynn. I want to tell her I'm sorry for hurting her and not respecting her feelings about the baby. She probably hates my guts and thinks all I do is run away from my problems. But we need to at least work this shit out because now we have a baby on the the way and I know how parents fighting can affect a child.

"Fuck it, I'm going to call her anyway." I grab my phone and pray that she picks up.
