Chapter 23: Nightmares of the past

Aux Fin Lee's POV

I remember the memory as if it was yesterday. The overwhelming pain I felt was still here inside of me. It healed but it was not forgotten. I learned to live half a life. Half Dead, Half Alive. A part of me was in them, a part of me that loved.

I feel like a living zombie. I don't know my reason for living.

The windows of the hotel was wide open and the rain was still there. We both went silent for a minute. That blond haired former spy girl who went rogue after her boss's betrayal was still there in her pyjamas, wide awake staring at my stunned expression.

"The last thing I need is your mercy. I lost everything I hold dear because I fell in love with the wrong person, that memory will forever hunt me, the failure to save them, It's the greatest regret I have. Everything about that day is a nightmare to me. I don't expect you to believe me. Now, you know the reason why love for me is nothing but a game" She went silent but eventually patted my back.

"I-I couldn't imagine myself living like that all these years" Her strong façade crashed down. There we're sadness in her eyes.

"Revenge was the only thing keeping me sane, It's what's keeps me going" I darted my vision into the window. The storm was finally gone. The sun is beginning to set.

"I feel the same way about my boss's betrayal. You are not alone" She held my hand. She has perfectly manicured nails. I felt the warmness of her hands, Suddenly, I felt that electrifying force that her hand has emitted. It stirred something in me. We have some kind of chemistry or attraction. I met her eyes and I feel safe, I feel different. Those blue orbs which turns into red ones was mesmerizing to look at, If I continue to look at it, I might think differently about love.

I regained my composure.

"Hold tight on your seat cause we are travelling, Rio" I told her and unclasped my hand from her grasp. Which had broken her reverie. I acted like nothing has happened between us the whole night.

All that's in the past, deserve to remain in the past.

Aux Fin Lee's POV

The plane came at about 8PM that night. It was a private plane owned by my mentor Mr.Wutt. He gladly let us borrow it. He has an anonymous tip that some stolen diamond jewelries are in Rio to be auctioned.

After last night, Keira thinks differently of me, like I was an entirely different person.

The first time she met me, She thinks I'm this reckless mischievous cat burglar. Stereotypes about people aren't always true, But I'm too busy to even care.

It feels different to have a partner, I used to be alone in missions like this.

"You might wanna sleep. The plane will land in Rio at exactly 10:00" I held a time magazine in my hand. I was wearing a blue tie and a suit. I look dignified and neat.

The clouds was blue and dark. The view outside was stunning and relaxing, the blue sky which looks so calm and quiet, I can feel myself being lost in the moment. But I was more mesmerized by her amazement, she almost feels like a child in Disneyland.

"Is this your first time riding a plane?" I held a scotch on the rocks on my left hand while the right one was holding the magazine.

"No, But this is my first time to enjoy the view, I usually have no time to look at the things or view around me because of the missions" I saw a smile on her face. She has this cheekbones that models would die for and a puckered lips perfect for kissing.
