It took me a while to fall asleep―still too many thoughts from our "little chat." As I listened to Finn breathing evenly on the lower bunk, I thought, I am sharing a bunkbed with a dude that's into dudes. The thoughts were just too big to process.
The next morning as I vainly tried to keep my eyes shut against the sunlight encroaching into the bedroom, I became aware of Finn rummaging around in the closet; he was stuffing clothes into a laundry bag. When he had finished he walked out carefully, allowing only a quiet sigh to unconsciously escape as he passed my still-ostensibly-sleeping form.
He's just a dude, I told myself. Just a dude doing his laundry just like anyone else.
