One night I asked them, "Why BYU?"

"Why not?" asked Finn with a cocked eyebrow.

"I mean, of all the places to come to school, why come here, where you have to hide all the time?"

"Well, you kind of have to, anyway, when you're Mormon," Finn shrugged. "It's not like I was going to leave the church and start whoring around just because I didn't go to BYU."

"Whoring around?" Nick asked, astonished. "Is that what they're calling it these days?"

"Well, I wouldn't know," Finn said in mock piety. "I wouldn't have done it."

"How did you two meet, anyway?" I asked, amused.

"We both moved here last year," Finn began.

"When we moved here, Finn was dating a girl," Nick said maliciously.

"Sort of," Finn corrected. "I was sort of dating a girl. Nick was dating no one." Nick elbowed Finn and Finn smiled wider.

"We both moved to Blue Arms because of the advertisement. It was a . . ." Nick began.

"I've still got it!" Finn sang out and sprang up to go into the bedroom.

"You still have it?" Nick yelled back at him incredulously. "You weirdo."

Finn came back with a copy of the BYU Housing Guide opened to a page. He handed it to me. "This one!"

It was a picture of three large, flexed male biceps in a row, all covered in blue body paint with the words

BLUE ARMS

APARTMENTS FOR MEN

in large block letters.

"Blue . . . Arms," I finished lamely. "They printed this? I can't believe they printed this."

They both chuckled.

"Okay," I began again, "so how did you meet?"

"It was at a ward activity," Nick began dramatically.

"Very cliché," Finn chimed in.

"Finn was staring at me."

"I was tactfully stealing glances."

"So I came over and sat down next to him at the table."

"And I was like, shit! He's coming over!"

"We started talking."

"We hit it off."

"And the rest is history?" I asked skeptically.

"No," Finn rolled his eyes. "It was weeks later."

"We were just really good friends, as Cameron likes to say."

"We started hanging out all the time."

"We started cooking together."

"And then, one day," Finn said mock-wistfully, "Nick got really, really excited about something or other and he grabbed my hand."

"Because that's what I do when I get really, really excited about something," Nick clarified helpfully.

"And I looked at him," Finn continued, "and he looked at me."

"And the rest," Nick said with a dramatic pause, "was history."

I laughed. "You two are absolutely ridiculous."

"Actually it still took like two more weeks," said Finn dryly. "But that was the moment we officially knew."

"You knew," Nick pointed at Finn. "I knew when you were checking me out at the ward activity."

"Tactfully stealing glances."

"Ah, young love," said Belv, making us all jump because we hadn't realized he was standing in the doorway.

"Stop doing that!" said Finn indignantly. "Your day will come, too, you know."

"Nah," Belv waved his hand with a dismissive smile. "I'll be a bachelor forever."

"And on that optimistic note," said Nick brightly, "Goodnight all."
