Some call them shooting stars, but really what is sailing through the sky is a meteorite, exposed to such high temperatures that it glows. Many times a year, a meteor will get too close to the sun and break apart into meteorites, which then shoot across the sky in a meteor shower. It is a very spectacular event, and is said to grant one great wish.
All that Polaris wished for now was to see Terra again, to feel her warm embrace again. He pulled out his notebook, but all he could draw was little bits of Terra: a strand of her hair, the center of her eye, the corner of her lips...
Then, seemingly out of nowhere, she appeared, like an angel in her white dress. She whispered something about him being more important than sleep, and he quickly swept her up into a heartfelt hug.
This was how he always wanted to remember Terra, so he pulled out his sketchbook and sketched her, just like that.
It wasn't until Polaris was already home and looking out his window that he noticed the meteorites soaring through the sky.
