"Are you sure you saw a man?" Elsa and Aphrodite are sitting on the paddock fence, watching the horses. "Yes, I am sure. Have I been known to lie?" Aphrodite smirks. "No, but you do have a wild imagination. Like when you thought you saw a big spider under Ms. Kendley's desk. All the girls- not to mention the boys- jumped on their desks, screwing up a math test, and Ms. Kendley screamed so loudly, that the window cracked, and then threw her expensive mug at the thought-to-be spider. The spider turned out to be a dust bunny. A dust bunny! And what about when you thought you saw crocodiles in the creek. No one went near there for three months. They were rocks. Rocks!" She draws in a deep breath to continue. "And what abo-" "Ok, Ok. I think that's enough, now. I get what you mean." She shrugs. "I know I have a wild imagination, but I assure you, it wasn't my imagination. I really did see a man." Aphrodite doesn't reply.
"Got your preach ready?" Asks Elsa. "It's time to go to youth group."
The girls and Elsa's brother, Ira, arrive at One Life Church in time for band practice. They greet the band leader, then find their other friend, Lily Sanny. While they were talking, Elsa suddenly gets falls to the ground, as legs sweep her legs out from underneath her. Indicating that Elsa's other brother, Jemima, has arrived.
"How can you do that to your little sister! You're so mean!" Lily screeches. Jemima doesn't listen. He refuses to think that he's mean. After them two arguing for a while, they finally go off and talk while Jemima tunes his guitar. Elsa and Aphrodite go to get their instruments ready. Aphrodite is a singer, while Elsa plays the bass. The others say she's good at the bass, but Elsa thinks she's terrible at the bass, and that they're just saying it so she doesn't complain. She doesn't say anything about it though.
After half hour of practice, other people start to arrive. Elsa and Aphrodite walk down to their seats and greet the other people.
"Look, Elsa, newbies." Aphrodite points. Elsa looks. Just entering the building, were two teens. They look familiar to Elsa, for some reason. It was a boy with a girl. The boy has red hair with grey eyes, and the girl has long strawberry-brown hair, with grey eyes.
"Let's go say hi." So Elsa and Aphrodite go to the two teens and say hi. The teens just glare at them and reluctantly say hi. Then they strut off.
"Well, that was rude!" Retorts Aphrodite. "I wonder who invited them?" Elsa shrugs. The two teens go to the far back left corner and start discussing something.
Suddenly, youth starts for real. They do worship, then devotions, and then the main event starts: So you think you can preach. It's basically preaching competing. Elsa's terrible with preaching as she is with everything else.
Elsa is right after Aphrodite. Aphrodite finishes up her five-minute preach, and it's Elsa's turn.
As she goes up, she sends a quick prayer to God for help not to stutter again. Never mind about that! She couldn't speak for the first five minutes. You should know that soundless laughter, where if anyone even said anything, you would just start over again almost falling onto the floor. Well, this is what's happening to Elsa.
Finally, she recovers, and with a deep breath, she begins. For real this time. She flows through the rest of the preach. Everyone claps politely. "Couldn't have done better." Whispers Lily. Regardless of what she said, Elsa lands last again.
The whole time she was preaching, the two teens gave her icy looks that made her neck hairs stand on their ends.
