CHAPTER 6

"Why did you leave us?" was the first thing Meri asked her father after she had finished hugging him.

Milo hesitated, and took a seat next to her, "it is hard to explain, but I will try. I never informed you and Aku, but your uncle Aziel, he is... troubled. As a child he was a great fighter, but eventually his abilities evolved into something more... unconventional. Our father banished him from the village."

"What do you mean, 'unconventional'?" She asked, raising a suspicious eyebrow.

"For that I will have to take you through the entire history of the filii aurea, my child," Milo admitted sheepishly, but Meri nodded, she could handle it.

"Our whole religion, our everything is based off the descendant theory. It states that Mother Nature and a mighty Celestial Being, fell in love, and conceived four magical children who could each control an element. She raised them to be peaceful, and to help the humans, but six centuries ago, they rebelled, and mixed with each other, creating deadly mixed-breed's. Your uncle had reawakened that line of cursed children who had been wiped out years ago, during the time of the Great War. Now he is scared that the gene has been passed down to you and the rest of the children in this manor and he means to kill you to assure the survival of the Aureans." Milo explained as he watched Meri's eyes widen in shock.

"My own uncle wants me dead?" She asked in disbelief.

"I'm afraid so, yes." He admitted gravely.

"That's terrible," she exclaimed, still disbelieving, "yesterday I didn't even know about my religion, and today I find out I'm being hunted down like some sort of farm animal?"

"It is a lot to take in, I know." She nodded, even though it was an understatement.

Meanwhile, Ignis and Nuri wandered the Manor. Nuri showed him every significant inch of the Manor he could possibly think of.

"We should probably go claim a bed," Ignis said after Nuri had shown him everything.

"If you don't mind, there's an extra bed in my room." Nuri replied, with a smile on his face, Ignis simply nodded.

Nuri led him up the wooden staircase, creaking with every step they took, and he led him into the room. Nuri's bed stood next to the window, almost as if to crane it's neck over the windowsill to lay it's eyes upon the magnificent mountain view bounding over the valleys that lead into the Sovereign Capital. The other bed stood in the corner, gracefully gathering dust, a giant white elephant, interrupting the room's energy almost. Ignis rolled up the sleeves of his shirt, and clasped his hands together,

"Right," he said quickly, walking over to the bed, "shall we push these two together?" He asked Nuri.

A soft coat of blush rouged Nuri's cheeks, but he nodded nonetheless, and approached the bed as well, "I'll warn you now so you can't make fun of me later," he said as they pushed the two beds together, both of them having their moment in the sun, "I tend to toss and turn a lot." Ignis regarded him with a playful smile, shaking his head. They admired their handiwork for a short period of time, before descending back down the creaky wooden floor, to the back yard. The only thing significant about the back yard, despite the mountain view it held, was the circle in the middle of it. A large white circle had been drawn in the middle of the large garden, and the orange dirt shone through it in the hot afternoon sun. It was a makeshift battle arena that Avani had left there when Milo started training her.

Ignis' face shifted to a playful smirk expression, and the approached the circle, "I'm sure you didn't bring me out here to admire the view."

Nuri nodded, an all-knowing smile resting on his lips, "that I did not." He said as he stepped into the ring as well.
