Chapter 3: part 2

~Robin's POV

After introductions were made, we all started arguing over what to order, well...Wally was arguing over what to order, the rest of is just stayed out of it and talked about how our days went or how school was going.

Danny went back to his work while we talked amongst ourselves. A paper fell off the table onto the floor and Kaldur picked it up for him. I saw him raise a brow as he looked it over with a look of astonishment, I felt my own face mirror his as I peeked at the shoulder at the paper too.

¨What do you study at school Danny?¨ Kaldur asks politely, gaining the others attention as well.

He hums non-cumulatively, scribbling out a complex looking equation before raising his head to look at the the paper in Kaldur's hand.

¨Oh that, that's notes for my astrophysics class.¨

¨Huh?¨ Wally asks before giving an indignant cry when Artemis smacked the back of his head. ¨Ow! What was that for?!¨

¨For being stupid,¨ she answered carelessly. ¨Astrophysics is the branch of astronomy concerned with the physical nature of stars and other celestial bodies, and the application of the laws and theories of physics to the interpretation of astronomical observations.¨

¨Wow. That's...impressive.¨ I say, impressed with the utter dedication that his goals, not doubtedly, take.

¨What school do you go to Danny?¨ Megan asks curiously.

He doesn't look up from his laptop as he gives a vague gesture towards the window. ¨I go to the university across the street.¨

Wally and Artemis's eyes went wide with shock. ¨You go to Wells University?¨ Artemis asks Danny with an astonished look on her face and he nods.

¨Dude!¨ Wally exclaims, ¨that school is harder to get into than Gotham Academy!¨

Kaldur, Artemis and I were all surprised by this revelation.

~Danny's PO V

We talked until it got dark. 

As I'm pulling my blazer back on, Megan points to the pin. "What's that?"

"This," I say as I cradle it in my palm, "is a pin with my family crest engraved on it. An old family heirloom I was given as a gift by my father when I graduated from high school early."

~Robin's POV

A brief flash of sad fondness crossed his face before it left as quick as it came. Conner's eyes narrowed suspiciously but I shrugged it off.

I'll have to ask him about it later.

We waved goodbye to Danny before making our way  to the nearest zeta-tube.

Bats is gonna be mad that we couldn't find Nio. I thought as Kaldur shared a nervous look with me.

We entered Mnt. Justice and came face-to-face with Batman himself.

So not feeling the aster right now...
