High school, a poor excuse to get teenagers out of their homes. Cynth wasn't arguing anymore about coming for it was the best high school for a fifteen year old girl with wings to get noticed by the elite community.

Fifteen and not fourteen because she spent one year traveling the world learning languages. If she was getting a VIP pass to Empyreal it was going to be through a curriculum that came with flying colors and something that screamed 'we need this girl here now'.

She frowned at the new-looking building before following the now smaller flow of students into the auditorium for the entrance ceremony, she might have skipped it had they not decided to give out their schedules like flyers at the end of the ceremony.

Dressed in yoga pants and a loose shirt she played well the 'prefer being asleep than here' teenage stereotype. But they had told her to bring something comfortable for her special classes for people with wings. At least she had tried her best to be late.

Once seated at the back she awaited the principal's dramatic entrance with her crew of teachers. There were some kids still pouring in and some always found themselves looking at her, staring was a more accurate word, Cynth just ignored them.

The speech began soon enough. "Welcome to Sky High new and returned students. We're pleased to find a whole new set of faces to join our community." She walked around the platform giving herself and air of importance, Cynth liked her fake permanent smile it almost looked real.

"As you may know this high school prestige's itself for catching the eye of the winged community, so whether or not you have wings they might take an interest in you and offer you great life opportunities." She talked on an on like she was preaching at church. Being the principal of the almost best school in the world for winged children I guess she could afford that much.

"For that to happen you'll have to stand out from the rest." She stopped to catch her breath giving a dramatic pause. "This is my advice: be the best person you can be and have as much fun as you can. If you have potential they'll notice you soon enough. Best of luck in this new year as a Sky High student!" She finished applause erupting from the students.

A pair of teachers moved forward and a third grabbed the microphone the principal had been using. "Students who have wings either new or returned please go with Miss King," he signaled the teacher on the right, "and those who don't stay to divide you in groups so we can assign you a homeroom teacher and make any adjustments to your schedule." Just as he finished talking seven kids got up and followed Miss King out of the auditorium.

Cynth waited until they were out the door to follow them without having the pain of feeling everyone looking at her. She attracted enough attention with her moonlight white hair.

She stood outside the classroom the teacher entered not wanting to meet her classmates just yet. She stayed there until she heard chairs moving and she hided until she was sure everyone was out except for Miss King.

She then went inside surprising the teacher. "Hello Miss King it's a pleasure, I was told you are the homeroom teacher for the children with wings." Drawled the girl by way of greeting.

"Yes I am are you the student that will have additional evening training?" Inquired Miss King composing herself.

"That would be me, I'm Cynth." Confirmed her removing an almost invisible speck of dust from her shirt.

Miss King fished something out of her folder and handed it to her. "This will be your schedule, for half the day you take normal subjects with at least one of your winged classmates" Cynth took it and read it.
