“Continuing on from my family tree research, Laura is a Latin baby name. In Latin, the meaning of the name Laura is ‘Laurel tree’ or ‘sweet bay tree’ which are symbols of honour and victory.”
Finally I had finished my history homework. Today was going to be a long day. Would it be the day I finally told Coby my true feelings? Probably not.
It had been five and a half months now since we’d started dating. Months that felt like years. Love is a spell; it entwines you and sometimes it can be magical but others, you feel trapped as though you are being held captive by a vine like ivy.
“Laura sweetie you should probably start walking now. Don’t want to be late.”
“Ok mum. I’m leaving. Don’t stress.”
Oh god how I wish I wasn’t leaving for school. I have double maths on Wednesdays. Sitting next to Liam twice in one day is too much to handle. I think he spoke to me last week but whenever he’s involved, I never really remember much.
All of my friends say how cute we’d look together but I honestly don’t like him. Anyway, he’s one of the popular guys so I couldn’t go out with him even if I wanted to.
As I walked through the gate, I witnessed his tanned face flash in front of my eyes. I could’ve sworn he winked at me. Stretching his long, muscular legs, he swiftly strode over to a group of loud – mouthed girls. I overheard them saying;
“Be careful Liam. You might catch a disease from carrot head.”
Of course, Liam had been grasped by their fake personalities and transported to a distant land
so he said,
“Oh yeah. Let’s go over there.”
Not wishing to hear any more spiteful comments, I began to look for my friends. Oh god. I am pretty sure that whatever Anna is wearing on her head belongs in a pet shop.
“Hi...Anna,” I began in an uneven tone, “nice...um...bone hat.”
“Thanks! It was a present from my Aunt Jane. You know the one who owns that pet shop.”
Even though she has an usual side, Anna is a good friend.
“Oh and I saw the way you looked at Liam. Lauriam is so real!”
Lauriam is the combination of both mine and Liam’s names. I don’t ship it.
