While my friends were at school, I was told I would be discharged the next afternoon. I’d finally be able to get out of the horrendous medical atmosphere and would finally be able to use my own toilet. Oh and maybe see my parents.
It’s 15:35, where is everyone? Lying in bed all day is pretty boring. Maybe even more boring than school. Oh my god I nearly forgot about Bailey’s phone. Perhaps I should just ask him what he was looking at.
All of a sudden, Bailey ran in and leant over me. I could see he’d been running for a while because he had sweat pouring down his face. He looked quite...apologetic.
“I’m sorry Laura but I have to tell you.” He eventually uttered.
“I...I don’t understand...what happened?”
“Anna...she’s dead.”
“W...why...how?”
“We don’t know. She was found in the teacher’s car park. It looked as though she’d been there for about an hour.”
“Was it suicide or murder?” I question, trying not to cry.
“It...it looks like murder. I’m so sorry Laura. If it makes you feel better, my nan died the other day. That’s why I kept looking at my phone. Things like this happen but we just have to stick together.”
“No Bailey. Things like this don’t just happen. HOW MANY PEOPLE DO YOU KNOW THAT HAVE JUST BEEN MURDERED?” I half cry and half shout.
We look into each others eyes for a few seconds. I’m still crying. He leans towards me and we hug. I don’t know what to think anymore. I thought it was too much before, but now it’s a completely different story. No. Not story. Nightmare.
