*Ross's POV*
"Nobody move or Miss.Parks here gets it, got it?" Danny warned.
Everybody stood, frozen like blocks of ice.
Taylor started to cry, her blue eyes glossy with tears.
"Don't cry, or this is gonna become a lot harder, ok?" Danny hissed in her ear.
"Why the hell are you doing this?!" I suddenly blurted out. "Why do you want Taylor?"
Danny sent me daggers alongside an evil grin. "You see, after you came in to save poor little Taylor that day I apologised, I got so angry that I went to the only person I knew for help: Stuart." He explained, gesturing to Taylor's dad, who actually looked pretty nervous. I'm not surprised, I mean, his daughter is being held at gunpoint.
"We decided on a plan to capture Taylor to taunt everybody else. If we couldn't have her, nobody else could." He finished.
"Dad?" I heard a soft voice say behind me.
Cameron.
"Why? Why do this to us? We were such a close family before you started drinking and started the abuse." He asked his dad wearily.
I could've sworn I saw a miniature tear fall from Stuart's eye.
"I'm sorry." He muttered.
"Our life was perfect before you messed it up. You'll never be my dad again." Taylor snapped.
Danny dug the gun deeper and harder into her skull, making her wince.
"I honestly don't know what came over me." Stuart sighed shakily. "I was under a lot of stress at work, and I thought the only solution was to drink my worries away."
"That was still no excuse to hit us! You're lucky we didn't call the cops!" Cameron exclaimed.
Stuart had guilt written all over his face.
"You need help, Dad. Go to a psychiatrist or something." Cameron added.
"I deserve to go to jail." Stuart suddenly wailed, tears streaming down his face.
Danny shot him a death glare, but he ignored it profoundly.
"I was a terrible husband and a terrible dad." He said, looking at Taylor and Cameron with sad eyes.
Taylor was crying harder now. I just wanted to carry her home in my arms, hold her tight and hug her, letting her feel safe.
But I couldn't. It would result in her death.
Stuart suddenly let go of Taylor's arms and pulled something from his back pocket. He pointed it directly at Danny.
A gun.
Danny let go of Taylor, his jaw hitting the floor in shock.
Taylor ran into my arms, and I held her tight, shielding her from any harm.
"It's ok, baby, I've got you now. You're safe." I whispered in her ear, reassuring her as she sobbed into my chest.
"Stuart....what are you doing?" Danny asked, his voice shaking.
"Thinking about it, I could've stopped drinking; I could've stopped harming my family. I could've stopped all of this if it weren't for you." He walked slowly up to Danny and pushed him lightly in the chest with the gun.
"You were the one who sent me deeper into the pile of shit I was already in. And now, you have to pay." He added, backing away from Danny and holding the gun in front of him.
