Morgan's POV
It had been 3 days now, still no word from Jade. It was now the day we were suppose to be going home, to enjoy the holidays with our family. But the thing is, I had invited Jade to come home with me for a few days before she had to go back to California. And I still didn't want to leave without her. I continued to pack my clothes, about finished when I looked at the other dresser with clothes inside. I gave a sigh before jumping up, grabbing her Silver's bag as I began to pack up her stuff. I took out my phone and gave her a call, simply wanting to leave a message that I'm packing up her stuff and will take it home with me. Suddenly, she picked up. "Hey Morgan." Her voice greeted, and I quickly froze wide eyed. "J-Jade?" I asked, now standing up. "Yeah, what's up?" She replied simply. "Oh my goodness, you actually picked up!" I yelled, walking to sit on my bed. We talked for a few, just checking on eachother. She apologized for leaving me, and told me she missed me. I told her how worried we had been, and how bad I had missed having her to talk to everyday. She ended up having to leave, but told me she'd call me later. I hung up happier then when I first called her, then finished packing up our belongings. I'd catch the 9 pm flight to Atlanta.Jade POV
The next morning, I woke up and made coffee as usual. Kelley was still asleep, and it was about 9 am. I walked out on the deck, seeing Ryder leaning against the railing. "Morning beautiful." He said, turning to look at me. "Shut up." I say just as quickly, rolling my eyes as I drink my coffee. He walked closer, and was smirking at me. "Come on Jade. You can't be mad at me forever." He said softly, and just as he lifted his hand to touch my face, I bit him. "Stay the fuck away from me." I growled, backing up. He shook his hand before smiling slightly, as a took another step closer. He's... Following me? I took a breath, then suddenly his hand shot at my neck. His fingers grasped around my throat, causing me to drop my coffee cup, it shattering against the wood. I let out a whine as I struggled to grip his hand, scratching at his skin. Suddenly, I heard feet against the wood, and was taken to the ground. I gasped for air as I coughed, laying on my side as I rubbed my neck. "You fucking jerk! How DARE you even touch her!" I heard Kelley yell, and as I glanced over I saw her pinning him down by his collar. He lifted his hands in defeat. "Okay okay. Stop. You got me." He said, Kelley hesitating before shoving him, then stood and knelt to my side. "The hell was that for?!" I rasped angrily, slowly standing up with the help of the defender. "I don't know, I just lost control." He replied, also standing up. I stared at him silently, glaring coldly without a word. "Maybe it's because you're not giving me another shot." He finally added, tilting his head slightly. "Another shot? Another shot?! What- so I can catch you making out with another of my friends? No Ryder. I'm over it. I've moved on." I growled, still holding a hand to my throat. His facial expressions turned to a cold stern, as he stood himself up and brushed off his clothes. "Leave Ryder. Go home. I am. Now that the funeral is over, I've got another family to tend to. My soccer family." I said sternly, slowly crossing my arms over my chest. His eyebrows furrowed as he stepped closer, and I found myself stepping in front of Kelley with my arm outstretched in a protective stance. "Another family? You weren't here for your own family, look where that got you." He growled, now looking me dead in the eyes. The words that he said stabbed me sharp, and would be a slow poison to grow. "Now you're leaving your mom? How long until she dies too? What's it gonna take to open your eyes Jade. You're a helpless, useless, worthless little girl and you'll never be able to protect those you care about. All you'll be able to do is watch. Them. Die." With that, he stormed away, leaving me frozen with my jaw partly open. I slowly turned to look at Kelley, knowing the color had left my face. "You should go home too. See your family." I told her. Looking at my bare feet on the wood. "What- Jade. You ARE my family." She told me, grabbing my arm. "Maybe so. But your blood family is more important. You don't know what you had until you lost it." I told her, looking into her hazel eyes. "But Jade, I don't want to loose you!" She yelled, now holding my hands. "You won't loose me. You can't loose me. Because I've already lost myself.." I muttered, eyes falling to my feet. "Jade come on-" "Kelley. Go home. I'll be back to Georgia to visit you." I told her, not letting her finish. Before she could say another word, I broke away from her grip and walked inside, leaving the defender calling my name as tears strolled down my cheeks.
