After Thanksgiving, the team would meet for two more friendlies, one against the Netherlands and one against Trinidad and Tobago. The roaster had changed, and they had gotten some familiar faces back to the team. Of course- not everyone knew who exactly would be on the team until they met back up at training in Columbus Ohio.
Morgan and Jade would be the last to arrive, only by an hour though. They had left home from Georgia after spending time with Morgan's family, after 2 weeks. Even if they were sad to leave the family, they were overly excited to see the team. The flight to Ohio- was rather interesting.
Morgan's POV
Jade and I stood in line waiting to turn in our tickets to board the plane. Jill had sent us the tickets a couple days ago, and we were to be seated together in the left mid section. We had put our luggage on the conveyor belt, and now were passed to walk through the boarding pass. We walk together, both talking about who we think we'd see back home. "I'm sure we'll have the usual, like Carli, Tobin, Alex, Becky, Christen. Then of course us, you and I. Then we got the other defenders like Ali, Julie, Kelley, and Emily. And our normal midfielders, Lindsey, Allie, Sam and Pinoe. Then we have our load of forwards, Mallory, Crystal, Ohai and Sydney. So I mean, we have a pretty good team, I do say." I explained, and she nodded as we continued to walk. "That leaves room for some new faces too. It will be a good mix, I can't wait to get back." She replies, and I nod in agreement. We make our way onto the plane and go to find our seats only to find an older couple arguing with a hostess about seating- at our seats. We pause and wait for the small feud to end, the wife of the arguing couple trips a bit and knocks into a cart that almost knocks over probably 100$ worth of beverages. Jade shifts and dives to slide to catch the alcohol bottles to keep from shattering across the entire floor. I cover my mouth as she lets out a sigh, slowly standing up to set the bottles back down on the cart, receiving thanks from the hostess. "We can sit somewhere else, really it's no big deal." I say, and she simply nods before walking off, not wanting to deal with the stubborn couple anymore. We glance around, noting only a few seats are open. We take the last row in the back corner, and I let her get the window seat before we settle in and head back. The flight itself wasn't bad, everything went smoothly. Take off was a little shaky but it was expected, once we were in the air everything relaxed. The two of us had taken a bottle of water and a few snacks from the hostess, and were just talking about small things like looking forward to playing again and just being back together as a team. Jade had told me that she promised me, and would promise the team to come and talk to us first before up and leaving the next time something this serious comes up.
The two were driven to the designated hotel the team would be staying at for the week of camp and the game that was in a weeks time, Thursday night against Costa Rico. As they arrived, they would carry in their duffle bags and would be greeted by the doorman. "Welcome ladies! And you are?" "Morgan Brian and Scarlet Jade." I introduce us, and then Scarlet adds in. "Part of the National Soccer team." He now registers and rushes to get our key cards. It appears we have different rooms, and thats okay. "Okay ladies, the rest of the team is already in their rooms unpacking, you are suppose to meet in the back in 20 minutes. You were the last to arrive." He explains, we thank him before we head upstairs.
Turns out they were right across the hall from eachother, which was good enough for them. "Meet me out here in 15?" Morgan asks. Jade nods and they part ways to their separate rooms.
Jade's POV
I use the key card to open the door and walk in, making sure it shuts before I walk in and set my bag on the bed. I glance up to see who I'm rooming with, but they're facing the other bed. They look familiar, but it's weird that I don't place a name yet. Then, she turns around, and my jaw drops. "LAUREN?!" I exclaim, stumbling back and looking into a vase that falls onto the floor, followed by me slipping and falling behind my bed.
