The next day, Malcolm and I woke up nearly the same second.
"Hey vampire babe." He chuckles. I slap his leg, check my phone and gasp at the time. "5. 5 am." I sigh.
"Goodnight." I giggle, and pull the covers over me. "Wait, are we.. A thing?" Malcolm asks. "Yes. Okay?" I turn to look at him. "Yes sir."
Malcolm gets out of bed and moves his bed out of the room. He just leaves it in the hall. He comes back in, this time with a furniture magazine.
"What?" I ask, sitting up. "If we're a couple, we share a bed. So let's move a tv in here." Malcolm smiles. I get out of bed and jump onto his shoulders. "Okay. You humans have crazy ideas."
"So do vampires."
"Like what?"
"You like starbucks."
"Who doesn't?"
"Good point."
We laugh and I kiss him on the cheek, and I take off my pyjamas and change into a muscle tank and jeans.
I skip upstairs and knock on Marcy's door. I get no answer, so I just open it.
There I stood. Staring at my best friend with her lips all over Christopher.
"Wow." I start. "Tough love."
I shut the door and bound down the stairs. Halfway down, I'm stopped by Marcy's voice.
"Hey you." She yells for me. "What? You seem busy." I call back. "So did you at starbucks the other day. You and the biggest jerk on campus." She scoffs. "He's not a jerk. Can't you give him a chance? Clearly you love to give people 'chances.'" I laugh to myself.
"I hate you." Marcy screams.
I roll my eyes and storm into my room. I climb onto my bed and roll my knees to my chest and wrap my arms around myself.
I sit there. Alone. Malcolm left for food. Christopher is dead to me and Marcy hates me. Alrighty then. I'm alone.
I've lost my best friend and my boyfriend isn't there to help. He will be eventually, but at the moment I kind of hate life. I kind of hate myself.
