Space Dust (Voltron Fanfic)

Chapter One

"The HELL were you thinking, Lance?! Ejecting your lion into the Galra warship was the dumbest thing you'e done! If it weren't for Allura covering your ass at the last moment, you would've fucking died in there!" yelled Keith Kogane harshly towards the blue paladin, who, by then, thought what he had done was in the right.

"Uhh, Keith, it was me who had cover for him at the last moment." added Hunk beside him, which only earned himself a glare by the hot-headed ravenette. The Yellow Paladin then took a gulp of both his saliva and air before looking down at his gloved fingers with a guilty expression, as if he had deeply insulted them.

"Nevermind that! If you died, then we would lost our way of forming Voltron, and who do you think is going to stop Zarkon from taking over-" the teen's words stopped when he felt cold metal landed ontop his right shoulder. The Black Paladin, with his Galra arm, patting Keith's shoulder seemed to had calmed the Korean male down from killing Lance with those hateful shots of glaring, if only looks could harm his body.

"Keith, Lance hadn't done anything wrong, instead, he'd-" Shiro started, but his sentence was halfway from finishing before another voice cut in.

"They would've died if it weren't for me crashing into them. They would've blasted to bits. People from our planet would've been striked dead without even knowing what had hit them." said Lance, a deep frown was drawn across his face, and on closer inspection, Shiro could see tears forming in his eyes, as if he had been kicked repeatedly in the stomach, he sucked in much oxygen before shouting out at Keith, "THEY WOULD'VE DIED, KEITH!"

The whole room's presence became tense all in a sudden, the paladins all have their faces dropped. All of them, including Keith, couldn't deny the fact that whatever Lance had say, was true.

If it weren't for Lance's disrupting, the Galra's target would've been the spaceship. They really would've died just because Lance didn't do what's right to attract their attention.
Thought Shiro, his metallic hand still rested on Keith's shoulder.

Shiro took a glance at the occupied healing pods, each three of them consists of other human residents, taking their time to recover from their injuries. It would be a matter of seconds now, as Allura has spoken, until the three astronauts' awakening......

It was indeed a surprise, to find a spaceship with a familiar American flag printed on the side of its grey surface in the middle of a lazer storm between the Galra warship and the five lions. Allura has gotten word of distress from Libretos, a small green exotic planet in the Milky Way. It is seemed the planet has been targeted by a Galra warship, and it seemed to have no defense for the attack and the conquering, which force them into throwing in whatever power they had to call for support and alliance.

"Paladins! We're heading for the Milky Way now! Suit up and we'll be arriving in Libretos in a few ticks!" That was what she'd announced a few hours ago, while everyone except for Coran were in the respective rooms, either resting or have already awoken. Lance seemed to be the happiest when exiting his room, a shit-eating grin spreaded across his tanned face like melted butter.

"What are you so happy about, Lance?" Keith had asked him, an eyebrow raised.

"Oh, it's just being back in the same galaxy as Earth again. Think again, Keith! Earth! Maybe we could visit Earth after saving that planet!" Exclaimed the blue paladin happily, which really didn't make Keith move a muscle to change his expression.

...He had nothing to go back Earth for, anyways.

The mission started out smoothly, without the warship even noticing the five lions hiding between a few asteroids nearby Libretos, Keith swiftly piloted his Red into sneaking underneath one of the ship's wings, intenting to break down the systems as quickly as possible from the inside, in order to buy the planet and the other paladins more time. He was all careful and quiet, until a certain blue paladin decided to crack a joke at a time like this.
