Kingsglaive AU
We looked at each other too long to be just friends.
The way his dark greyish blue eyes sparked with yours, longer than most people would recall as a friendly glare between two competitors of the same team. A smirk stayed plastered on his lips, constantly flipping his daggers between his leather gloves with amusement, throwing you a spare glance before chucking the sharpened weapon with precision across the courtyard. You barely managed to dodged the onslaught of coordinated slashes, your own smaller daggers more fit for your smaller hands clashing against his sending metallic sparks to sizzle in between.
"Is that all you got?" He taunted, gaining the upper hand as he intentionally swept a foot beneath you, sending you plummeting onto your bottom like a rock.
"Screw you! I wasn't ready!" You snarled in annoyance, embedding the tip of your blade into one of the cracks of the ground, dusting off your glaive uniform.
The metal sowed into its stretchable black material flickered beneath the sun's beating rays taking a slight toll on your stamina usage. Though, the battlefield stained with blood on the outskirts of the palace walls said otherwise. Endless days of pointless fighting, morning till nighttime preventing creatures ranging from daemons to Diamond Weapons from reaching the sacred barriers walls of Insomnia. Undoubtedly, they still continuously sent all glaives to their inevitable doom. And the Kingsglaive still continued to place their blood, sweat, and tears into fighting against the Niflheim like their life depended on it. A brave bunch of fugitives snuck in from outside the palace walls to do the Majesty's biddings.
It was disgusting from beginning, watching various colors of blood splatter across the earthy soil of Eos, including the gore of your fallen brethren. Now, it was the only hopes of keeping the caged nation surrounded by Imperial lands from falling. It was a glint of hope in the world of stirring Chaos. Very few were confident of the prince's well being, meeting with the fellow Tenebraean princess to be wed as an olive branch of the treaty. Sucks to be them you thought, being forced to fancy someone as mysterious as a magician and his or her's illusions.
Yet, you already were struggling with your own train of thought every training session with the so-called 'hero' of the Kingsglaive, Nyx Ulric. He was handsome in appearance and always was loyal to his fellow comrades during the local skirmishes against Magitek troopers and daemons alike. His warping skill definitely exceeded your own capability. Your stomach churned after five warp strikes in a row, like Libertus except you consumed the sickening feeling without a single complaint.
"Gotta think quicker on your feet f-n. Anything horrible can happen if not in the right mood set." He commented, strafing side to side within nimble footsteps.
"No kidding hero." You chided in annoyance, chucking a nearby pebble near your boot towards one of the stone pillars supporting the brick roofs.
"C'mon, give her break. She barely had enough time to think before acting." Libertus intervened from his uncomfortable sitting position.
"Says the guy in two pieces." Crowe, another female glaive chimed in, eyeing the leg cast wrapped around the male's leg.
"Quiet Crowe. I'm trying to be a support player between these two idiotic people." He grumbled.
"I heard that!" The two of you shouted in unison, picking up your weapons once more.
You drew back your dominant arm over your shoulder slightly, flinging the weapon properly towards him. Nyx quickly dodged, ducking beneath the flying blade instinctively. Your feet pounded against the wall behind him to ricochet into the vulnerable glaive, tumbling onto all fours above his fallen form. His eyes immediately widened slightly before a smirk painted across his lips at the awkward predicament you were mixed into.
