Fate Swap AU where Noct is the Oracle (I do not own fanart displayed above)
"I specifically commanded for you to not get in the way. I can handle myself just fine without the need of a bodyguard near me wherever I travel."
A luminous white light gleamed from the divine Oracle's fingertips, illuminating the wicked red streak of the wound damaged on the glaive's appendage. The leather glove clothing the scarred flesh was already removed and discarded on the wooden counter top.
"Sorry, Your Highness. I didn't meant to piss his Majesty off. Orders by the mighty king."
"Yeah, so what? That doesn't give you the privilege to commit suicide." The black haired Oracle seethed in a harsh tone, the aura around his smooth fingers brightening.
You grinned a little at the complaint of the young man, "Since when were you the caring, possessive guy?"
"Ever since you became the crazy, attracting all hostiles and enemies person between us. You can't babysit me all your life." The miraculous light diminished in seconds, little specs of diamond looking crystals twirling around the surface of the damaged skin before dispersing into thin air.
"Noctis, it is great responsibility of mine and I take great pride in doing it. The world depends on you." You spoke with a proud tone, cupping his lingering hand that hovered over your repaired wound with your hand.
"You could have died." He said sternly.
"So could you, then our world would have been submerged into darkness by the Plague of the Stars. If I must die, so be it." You swore an oath years ago on your sixteenth birthday to protect the young Oracle till your ticking death. Even encountering undiscovered creatures and daemons upon groups did not tarnish the promise you swore four years ago. Damn, four years ago. Has it been so long since you have met Noctis?
Noctis frowned in defiance, squeezing your hand back with little exertion of force. "All of us die in our lifetime. Don't you think it's time for me to?"
Crinkles appeared between your eyebrows, your keen eyes lingering on the untouched porcelain skin of his cheeks, complimenting his enticing blue eyes. Almost always, the divine Oracle had to mention such a depressing thought. Noctis passing away into the afterlife, connecting with the gods hidden in the stars above for eternity? The thought never passed your system. Besides, you never wanted that destiny to fall upon him. Noctis has caused so much hopefulness to spread among thousands, the one person who prevented hope from disappearing in such mournful times. His home of Tenebrae had been conquered by Niflheim at such a young and innocent age. Losing his mother in addition took quite a toll on his suffering and grieving over his home, where his heart developed in. His home, destroyed by the selfish desires of the Niflheim empire.
"You can't, I will not allow it one way or another. So many people depend on your speeches, preaching that hope still lingers in such a broken world." You defended, scooting closer to Noctis on the bed.
"Really? Guess I never tried to see it from a different perspective." He sighed, replacing the previous frown with a gentle smile. "Thanks. I 'preciate everything you have sacrificed for someone like me."
"Don't mention it. Just prevent yourself from leaping into dangerous territories in the middle of the night. We wouldn't want the flame sword wielding cousin of the Iron Giant to come swatting the garden outside."
Noctis snorted a laugh at your forewarning. "The flowers is what you are worrying about, not the Oracle himself?"
"Yeah, I guess if you insist then I will not impose the suggestion. Someone has got to keep you in check. My priorities are clear as day." You responded with a subtle wink.
