(AANG'S POV)When I woke up it was light out, and I groaned, burying my face into my pillow and trying to go back to sleep. Unfortunately, I had a 'problem' I had to go take care of, and the longer I lay awake, the worse it got. I wasn't going to have much of a choice but get up.
Sitting up, I rubbed my eyes, looking down at my bed to see a very sound asleep Y/N laying on her back next to me, her black hair framing her face. She looked so peaceful and serene that I couldn't help but smile.
I actually managed to twitch the entire bedcover as I sat watching her, and I looked back to my lap, groaning internally and rolling my eyes. Stupid body.
Getting up, I looked back to Y/N one more time. She had rolled a bit with me getting off the bed, and she sleepily reached out for me, finding my pillow and taking it, pulling it against her and cuddling into it. I almost wanted to go back into bed.
Almost.
Instead, I got dressed enough to be decent and hide my issue, and I left the room as quietly as I could, making my way to the bathroom down the hall. Someone was in it already and I leaned against the wall, making sure my robes fell forward enough to fool anybody passing by.
Out of nowhere Toph came running down the hall, panic in her face.
"AANG!" she yelled and I jumped, almost embarrassed before I remembered she can't see me anyway.
"What?" I asked, a bit concerned at her panic.
"I can't find Y/N. I went to her room this morning to check up on her, and she's not there!" she rambled, shifting her feet, looking for Y/N. A lump caught in my throat, and I contemplated telling Toph where Y/N was.
I didn't have a chance to though, because at that moment Y/N came ambling down the hall out of my room, holding my pillow to her chest, her thin legs bare and her hair a complete mess. She rubbed her eyes, still half-asleep, and wandered over to us. Toph found her and her face painted relief, then curiosity.
"Why are you yelling?" Y/N whined, burying her face in my pillow. I shifted uncomfortably, hoping whomever was in the restroom would hurry up already. Seeing Y/N in just an old shirt of mine and her underwear, cuddling my pillow, all sleepy and adorable...I wished I had my pillow just to cover myself.
Toph shifted one of her feet towards me, and one towards Y/N. I held my breath, terrified that Toph would figure out what had happened.
A smirk gleamed on Toph's face, and I dropped my head. Of course I had been found.
"So, twinkle-toes. Sleep well?" she tilted her head towards me knowingly, and I blushed a dark red.
"Yes, I did SLEEP well." I retorted, trying to keep my eyes off of Y/N. Toph laughed.
"Of course you did." she laughed, turning and walking away. "Breakfast is ready, so come on out when you're ready."
(Y/N'S POV)
I woke up to an empty bed and the sound of Toph yelling down the hall. Climbing out of bed I kept the pillow, holding it and making my way into the hall.
Aang was leaning against the wall, and he looked exceptionally uncomfortable. Toph appeared to be in a panic, and I whined. "Why are you yelling?"
Relief flooded Toph's face, and then her expression changed, to be more knowing. I was too tired to pay attention while her and Aang talked a bit more, and when she turned to leave, the tension in the air was so thick it could be cut with a knife.
I focused on Aang, trying to wake up properly. I needed a good splash of cold water in my face to get me up, so I waddled over to Aang, standing next to him and leaning against the wall. I rested my chin on his pillow, fighting to keep my eyes open.
After a little bit, the bathroom door opened and Katara and Haru stepped out, dressed and ready for the day. Aang seemed to tense up at them, and I tried to process why, but failed miserably.
Aang made his way forward and I stopped him closing the door with a hand. He looked a bit surprised, and opened it again.
"You mind if I come in as well? We can get ready at the same time, get to breakfast faster, so Sokka doesn't eat all the good stuff." I suggested, and his cheeks flushed. Nodding, he stepped back, letting me in, and I shut the door behind me.
There were curtains around the shower and toilet, and I set the pillow down on the counter before moving behind the shower curtain, stripping down and throwing my clothes over the top of it to hang.
The tub had already been scrubbed and refilled, and I lit the fire, sitting down to wait for it to heat. As I waited I could hear Aang relieving himself, and I tried my best to give him his privacy, focusing instead on the flames as they very slowly heated my bath.
"You need some help heating the water?" Aang asked through the curtain, and I hesitated.
Pulling a cloth around me, I called back. "Sure."
Aang stepped around the curtain, and I could see his eyes flicker to me before he placed his hands on the side of the tub, and within moments the water was steaming. I smiled at him, and he glanced down shyly.
"You know, if we keep our under wrappings on, we could just bathe together. Save time." I suggested, then kicked myself. Stupid Y/N. One overly heated moment with the other Avatar does not a relationship make.
"That's a good idea." he spoke, and moved to strip himself. I stared blankly at him with my mouth open, shocked that he had gone for it. Shaking my head I stood, grabbing my own wrappings and moving to the other side of the curtain to put them back on before moving around again and finding him already in the water, his eyes closed and a happy smile on his face.
Climbing into the water, I found it to be the perfect temperature, and I sighed happily, sinking in so my nose was barely above the water.
As I relaxed, I felt my foot brush Aang's, and I didn't bother to move. The water stayed warm, thanks to my personal heating buddy, and we sat for who knows how long in the hot water just enjoying it.
At one point I felt a single drop of water drip onto my nose and I jumped, opening my eyes and looking up.
A ball of steaming water floated above me and I turned my gaze to Aang, who had his arms raised and was looking at me with a sheepish grin.
"Oh, so that's how you wanna play it?" I challenged, and he shrugged, grinning broadly.
Before I had time to change my mind I threw myself across the tub, landing on top of a very surprised Aang and began tickling him. The water behind me fell on my back and I continued tormenting him, enjoying how he squirmed and giggled beneath me.
After a while we both sat, me still on his lap, in the toasty warm water, just enjoying the simplicity of holding one another.
