Chapter 11

Recap:

"Sure." I smiled back at him. This time, I was actually willing to go. Then I felt Zach tense up as some lady approached us.

"Zach...it's been long, has it not dear?" A red-headed girl stopped at his side. I saw Zach's eyes go red.

Jayden's POV

"J, lets go." Zach stood up, grabbed my hand, and lifted me to my feet. The red-headed girl... I couldn't sense what she was. But I definitely knew she wasn't human. Zach abruptly pulled my hand, pulling me along.

"Zach! Zach! So this is what you're gonna do, huh? Your just gonna walk away from me, and pretend like you never saw me?! Answer me!!" The red-headed girl screamed from behind us. In a flash, she was in front of us. Zach growled. She pushed me aside, and grabbed him. She cupped his face into her hands and kissed him. I unexpectedly gasped. Zach eyed me with sad eyes, but turned back to her with hatred. He pushed her off him, and spat on the ground.

"No matter what you do, you know you still love me! You know it too, your just too stubborn. No matter how many girls you get in your bed, you know that deep down, you still love me!" she screamed, caught between breaths.

"You got it all wrong, Alexis. I don't love you, I loathe you." Zach spat, eyes still red. His voice was deep and scary. With that, he picked me up bridal style and ran with his vampire speed to the car. He opened the door with one hand, and placed me gently into the passenger seat. He got in himself, and slid on the seatbelt.

"Who was she?" I asked, almost screaming. Zach's eyes were still red as he fumbled with his car keys.

"No one." He replied flatly.

"Don't give me that stupid answer."

"Don't give me that stupid question."

"Zach..."

"Just drop it okay? Forget it."

I crossed my arms, and opened my mouth to say something, but before I could, Zach started the engine and starting driving faster than before. After about 15 minutes, I definitely could tell that we left civilization. There wasn't a building, or person in sight, just trees, fields, and even more trees. Zach seemed to have cooled off, since his eyes turned back to his normal sexy green eyes, and he started driving slower. We hadn't talked since, but the silence was just driving me crazy.

"Where are we going?" I asked him, trying to sound like I wasn't worried. He turned to look at me, this time with softer eyes.

"Well...I told you I wanted to bring you somewhere special. Since the sky is already dark, it would be perfect for us to go now." He smiled at me, which only made me smile back.

"Look Zach. I'm sorry for getting into your business earlier. I was just...curious, always have been. But I don't want to ruin this night, so I'll just forget it, and move on." I said calmly, avoiding his gaze. He turned to look at me again.

"No...I'm sorry for yelling at you. I was just... you know... angry. I...I didn't mean for you to get upset or worried." He gave me another one of his grins, "so does this mean were friends?"

"Yeah." I couldn't stop my smile from getting bigger. Zach slowly parked the car near a hill. He took out a black back from the back of his car, and gave it to me. I opened it and there was a small blindfold. I looked at him questioningly.

"Well, it's a surprise. Duh! Put it on. Pleeeaseee." He gave me a puppy dog face, and I just chuckled. I slid on the blindfold, blocking my vision.

"Stay right there, I'll get you out." I heard as Zach got up and walked over to my door. He opened it, and helped me out. He slid his arm around my waist as he guided me somewhere. I could feel the grass under my shoes as Zach and I walked upwards, and then down again. We finally reached flat land, and then on concrete. I heard as the sound of rushing water came closer and closer.

"Okay, are you ready?" Zach said, excitedly. I sensed him smile as he removed my blindfold. I gasped. OMG.

There was a small table in the middle of the ground, with a red and white cloth over it. A big beautiful water fountain stood behind it, with candles lit all around the edge. But the thing that stood out the most was all the roses. There were dark blue roses outlining the whole area, the fountain, and the table. I turned to Zach, and...and...hugged him. He was surprised at first, but ended up hugging me back. Tears were forming in my eyes, and I starting sniffing. He noticed and pulled away.

"Hey. What's wrong? Why are you crying?" He looked concerned. I just shook my head and smiled.

"This is the nicest thing anyone has done for me." He wiped my tears away, and I snuggled my head against his chest.

"Come on, the food's gonna get cold." He smiled and led me towards the table. On the table were two forks, spoons, knives, and plates. On the side was a small vase with a single rose in it. Zach went around the fountain and came back with a picnic basket. I held in a laugh when he danced around. He pulled out pizza, biscuits, salad, and chicken.

We started off quiet, but I ruined the silence by throwing bits of my biscuits at him, and he did the same. I ended up having biscuits and pepperoni in my brown hair. After dinner, we walked over to the grass. He laid out a blanket, sat down, and patted the seat next to him. I skipped my way there, while laughing.

"The stars are really pretty tonight." I said, gazing at the sky. Zach kept his gaze at me though.

"It isn't the only thing that's pretty." Zach grinned. I pushed his shoulder back.

"That's so cheesy, haha." I laid on my back, feeling pretty comfortable. Zach, as always, found a way to get his arm around my waist. He pulled me closely, hugging me in a gentle embrace. I gave him a quick peck on the cheek. He seemed surprised, but then pulled me even closer.

"That was for giving me such a wonderful night." I said, resting my head on his chest.

"Well, I should do that often then." He smiled and stroked my side. I nuzzled my head against his chest, a bit sleepy.

"Sleep. It's pretty late." His voice ringed through my head as I slipped into a night of endless dreams.
