Mirko was waiting in this uncomfortable police station for hours. Okay, maybe it was just one single hour but it felt like thousand of hours. And that was more than just annoying and boring, because he had to give all of his stuff away so the police could check it. What did they think to find? He was just a 17 years-old-boy spraying grafitties on walls. Did they think he would also be a drug dealer or something like that? Sometimes those policemen were a little bit stupid. Or always.
He spent the waiting time with drumming a beat on the seat next to him. Blue plastic seats which were hard and uncomfortable so he had the urge to do some steps. But he wasn't allowed to move. That's why his hands had been chained with handcuffs. They treated him like he was a killer. Or a drug dealer.
In a way it was funny. But he was also able to laugh about it because he had to think about the reason why he was here. The reason was Valeria. And that was too ironic so the only thing he could do was laughing. There was also another opportunity: He could cry. Yes, he had been about to do it. Because he had felt so bad. Like his heart had been broken. And actually it was. Valeria had broken his heart because she was just thinking about herself. Because he didn't know what she wanted. Again. It had been the same last year. She played with his feelings. And he was sure that she did not even care about it.
"Mirko Renzoni?"
The annoyed voice of the policeman, who had caught him on the street, tore him out of his mind.
Frightened he looked up into his dark eyes.
"Come on!"
Slowly Mirko stood up and followed him into another room where the policeman opened the handcuffs.
"You're sister is waiting. She signed the paper. So you can go now."
Now Mirko ws irritated: "My sister?"
"Yes! Your sister! Or do I speak spanish?"
Wow, this policeman was so friendly. That was amazing! Or not...
"Okay, thank you", Mirko just answered before he was pushed out of the room in another one where they gave him his backpack filled with spray cans. But the man who gave it to him stopped a second and looked into Mirko's eyes strict.
"Those spray cans are just for home. Okay? No streetart any more. Capisci?"
"Capisco..."
After all what happened Mirko was sure that he would never do it again. Because he did not know if his inspiration and creativity would ever come back.
"You can go. Your sister is waiting."
Sister? Mirko was wondering who this sister was because he called Giovanni to pick him up. And he did not have a sister! What were they talking about?
"And we had to tell her what you did. So she knows everything."
Interesting...Didn't they have a plegde of secrecy? Assholes...
"Thank you and ciao!", Mirko said a little bit angry, took his backpack and leave the room to enter the floor. He wanted to leave this whole police station. But when he raised his eyes and saw who was standing in front of him he stopped. And watched his sister.
Valeria. Valeria was here. Yes it had been me calling her. I wanted her to pick him up so they could talk.
She pretended to be his sister so she was able to pick him up. But Mirko didn't want her to be here. He didn't ask her to. Because with every single look into her eyes his heart broke a little bit more.
"Mirko", Valeria whispered and slowly walked towards him. For a moment he was like hypnotized until he realized that she was so close to him and he didn't even want that. So he tried to pass her. But she pulled him back. Just with words. She did not need anything more: "Giovanni called me...They show me your grafitti."
Mirko was standing still. First he was angry at me. Then he was angry at the policemen. They showed it to her? So she knew what was going on in his mind.
"They showed me a picture of it."
He had made a grafitti with the slogan Ti ho dato tutto.
Because he had gave her everything. Really! He had done everything to make her happy, to make her smile and to make her proud. And she had just hurt him.
"I am so sorry."
"You're sorry?", he asked furious and turned around again, "For what? For keeping me a secret? For not being there for me when I needed you the most? Or for both? For breaking my heart?"
"Mirko, please listen...", she tried to say with trembling voice, but Mirko didn't want to listen to her.
"No! You will listen to me now, Valeria!", he yelled and did not care about all the people arround them, "That you called me your fan, you admirer...I don't care about that. Okay, I do but it is just one little mistake you did. I hope you know that it was a mistake."
"Yes, I know that but..."
"It was a mistake but not the reason why I am so... It is...the whole situation, Vale", Mirko admited. Now he was more disappointed and sad than angry. He felt so helpless and broken in this moment. "I know that you have a job. And I know that it is important to you, but...I don't know. Maybe...You have been there for me but you have never been there when I needed you the most."
"But now I am here."
"Yes, but...to late. And that isn't something new. It has already been like that one year ago. You're always to late. And if you think that you could say sorry now and everything would be fine again...No, we had a second chance, Valeria. But we didn't use it and that's a sign. You're job is more important to you than I am and that should not be. If you would love me we would not talk about this now."
"Mirko, that's not true", she said and came closer until she stood as close as possible to him, "I love you."
"Maybe. But it isn't this true love you need to be together. Maybe it is because of the difference of years or...I don't know and I don't care. The only thing I know is that you broke my heart. And you don't feel good too with me on your side. I am just keeping you away from your carrier. So this story between me and you is ending here."
With those words Mirko turned around walked towards the door. Knowing that Valeria stood behind him and was watching him made hin thinking about the whole thing and he realized that there was still something to say. So he stopped an looked at her again: "Do you remember when we said that this difference of years would be a problem that could be solved if we would give everything and keep together?"
Valeria just nodded because she was kinda speachless.
"I gave everything. I gave you everything and I tried my best to make it happen. But you didn't. Because you don't know what you want. Like one year ago. It is the same again: You don't know what you want. That's another problem. And I don't want to be a part of this game you're playing anymore. You do not do it intentionelly but...you do it and that's breaking my heart."
Mirko was proud of hisself being that strong and self-confident. He acted like a real man. And that was something special he learned because of this relationship. It was an advantage: He had been prepared for life. Something he would be thankful for forever.
"I am not angry, Valeria. I am not angry. Really. I am sad and...disappointed. Because I really love you."When Mirko turned around for the last time and left the police station Valeria could not stopped herself from crying. It was hard watching him leaving her. Becaus that was what he just did. He had broken up with her. And it was her fault. Her mistake. What had she done? She was ashamed of herself. For everything she had done. Especially because Mirko had done everything for her and she just...She had lost him. And maybe she had lost the love of her life. Just because she had done everything wrong what she could have done wrong. Why had she done this? She did not know. The only thing ahe could be sure about now was that she wanted him back but would never have him on her side again. It was over. So now the only thing she could do was crying. She had lost him...Forever?
