Marcel's POV
"Here are the ballots, cast your vote, fold it up, and put it in the box"
when I got my ballot Keith whispered to me "Vote for me or you're going to get it"
I swallowed hard and checked my votes, folded it, got up and put it in the box.
At the end of class Annie came up to me
"Who'd you vote for, huh Marcel?"
"You of c-course" I stuttered
"You vote for me Marceline?" Keith asked me
I shook my head, and as he reared back a fist, I flinched
"Hey!"
Keith turned away "What Duncan?! Kinda busy here."
"Wanna walk me to class, Henderson" she asked cutely "Once in a lifetime offer"
"Oooh, yes!" and suddenly he forgot all about me and ran to her, putting his arm around her waist, walking her to her next class.

Fast-forward 1 Day
"Shhh, shh" Ms.Mason told us as a student came on the loudspeaker
"2 Special announcements today. Result for student council are in!"
The entire class cheered
" For treasurer... Jane Wiggins"
Keith punched the wall, hurt his hand, and I snickered
"For secretary... Chloe Sinclaire"
"Thank you, thank you all"
Chloe said
"Vice President... Arabella Thomas"
Arabella did a curtsy.
"And for President..."we all crossed our fingers
"None other than... Taylor-Ann Duncan"
Annie stood up and spun around, she's so fearless. It's amazing.
"And the 10 highest averages, and the students that scored them this quarter are as follows: 10.Sam Adams 86. 57, 9. Ana Lawrence , 89. 72, 8. Arabella Thomas, 90. 00 , 7. Chloe Sinclair, 92. 01"
The loudspeaker student droned on as Annie said to Chloe "You're so smart Chlo"
"And congratulations to the following: 3. Jane Wiggins, 95. 22, 2. Taylor-Ann Duncan, 97. 90"
"I guess you're smarter" Chloe said to her
"And for the 46th time in a row, congrats to Marcel Styles for the highest average at the school. 98. 97"
The class groaned, I've had the highest average every quarter since I started here.
I smiled, that was the only thing I loved about school.
Well, that and Taylor-Ann of course.

"Marcel,"the principal called my name
"Yes?"
"I notice that once again you have scored the highest average in the school "
I blushed "Well it's nothing"
She smiled "Well, keep it up and you'll be valedictorian" and with that she walked away
"Yeah Marcel, keep it up and you'll be valedictorian" a voice spoke
I turned around to see Annie holding her books tightly to get chest.
I walked over to her
"Well,well,well, if it isn't miss 'I'm not smart'. So tell me this, if you're not smart, how is it that you get a 97 average?"
She blushed "Well, you see-"
"Just admit it Annie, you were wrong"
She shook her head
"No, you were wrong"
"How?"
"You said that I'm just as smart as you. And I'm not"
"Alright, I guess, but do NOT underestimate yourself anymore. You hear me Annie?"
She rolled her eyes "Yes Marcel"
I smiled at her and gave her a hug.
