"You should leave right now Bailey." Cody glared at me shoving me out of his embrace.

"Why?" I asked folding my arms. I haven't seen him all day and I'm sure he hasn't been out so I'm not the reason for his bad mood.

"I'm really low right now and I can't do anything about it. Just you being here is making me weak."

Cody and I talked about this a while ago. When he's low on blood sugar he can be sour, and tends to get weak. He told me to be there for him when he's high or low but he can have different personalities that tend to think otherwise. I've just never seen him like this before, this is all new to me.

"I'll be right back." I brushed past him. The only way to get him out of this state was to get him sugary foods. I did a bit of research myself when I found out he had diabetes.

I jogged downstairs to the kitchen and grabbed a few snacks like scotch biscuits, a Kit Kat chocolate bar and a bit of Gatorade for him to get his energy levels back. I made sure to stuff my hands with as much snacks as I could carry. When I opened the door to Cody's room I saw him sitting back on his bed with a blood pressure like device in his hand. But it was more touch effective. His muscles tensed as I sat behind him and dropped the snacks on the bed.

I ripped open a Kit Kat bar and shoved it in front of his face. "Eat."

He slowly took it from my hand still scowling. "I don't need you to take care of me."

"You sure as hell don't look like you were taking care of yourself when I walked in." I scoffed ripping open a scotch biscuit packet.

"I know how to take care of myself Bailey. I'm the one with diabetes here, not you." He growled scooting away from me. I bit down on my lip...he doesn't mean what he's saying. I refuse to believe it; this is just low Cody talking.

"You don't mean that." I sighed. He didn't respond, instead he grabbed the biscuits out of my hand and returned to typing into the device he was holding.

I shifted closer to him, wrapping one arm around his bare torso and the other I used to knead his back. He tensed at first but then relaxed letting me silently take care of him. I tried to avoid touching his pod as I massaged the tense parts of his shoulder and back. We both relished the silence. I leaned my head across his chest as he finished the rest of the snacks I brought for him.

"My mother isn't here, is she?" Cody asked a pang of hurt evident in his voice.

I shook my head. "No, she isn't." I pushed back holding onto him as I did so. When my back touched the head of his bed board I stopped moving. I lay with my arms wrapped around Cody's shoulders. I could tell his mother ghosting out on him affected him in ways I wouldn't understand.

"I expected it." He sighed taking one of my hands and playing with it. "She always leaves me when I actually behave like the diabetic I am."

"I'm sorry."

"For what?" He laughed. "You didn't do anything."

"You were here struggling while I was being a bitch at school. I wasn't here when you needed me." I said running my hands through his soft dark brown hair.

He ignored everything I said and went straight to asking how I was being a bitch. I laughed and explained how Jessica and Justin were just being fools. I totally skipped the part where Justin and I slightly kissed. "Oh and we've got a project we have to start in English."

He groaned turning on his side while I just laughed at the sudden change of his mood just by the mention of school.

"What was that thing you were holding before." I asked pointing to the white device on the floor.

"My insulin manager."

"Oh." I said. "Are you going to be at school tomorrow?"

He shook his head. "I need to stay at home for at least two days to make sure I'm in range."

I nodded, "I'm staying with you then. I don't want to talk to Justin anytime soon."

"Bailey..." He groaned turning his head on my lap so I could see his beautiful grey eyes. Give me the whole day and I could spend it gazing at his eyes. "You need to go home. Your parents would be worried."

"Mr Davis, is this your way of saying you don't want my company?" I smirked wiggling my eyebrows at him knowingly.

He sat up and sated at me with all seriousness in his face. "Trust me I want to keep you here with me but I just can't. Your parents would be expecting you to come home and my mom won't want to see a girl in my bed."

"I'm not just any girl."

"You're right you're not just any girl ... you're my girl." He reached up and kissed my cheek. "I just can't risk getting both of us in trouble."

"Fine." I said getting off his bed. I walked over to his door and was about to leave when I said. "By the way I was too focused on you I didn't even get to make out how your room fits your personality."

"You can focus on my room next time." He winked.

"Bye Cody." I shut the door smiling to myself.

"What do you mean you're going away for four months?" I fumed at my parents. I hope they don't expect me to be happy while they're gone. I know most teenagers would love to have their parents away from the house but I'm not one of those teenagers.

"Calm down honey." My mom frowned placing her hand on mine on the other side of the dining table.

"How the hell am I supposed to calm down? You're leaving me and taking Max with you to visit Pops. I can hardly see how this is fair."

"First, shut up. Max is sleeping." Dad sighed. "Second, Pops wanted to see Max and specifically Max only. When Pops does something he doesn't do it out of impulse and you're not going to be home alone. I've requested for the Miss Davis and her son to stay with you in the house."

If only my father knew that Miss Davis isn't Miss Davis anymore. I sighed running my hands through my dark locks in frustration. How could any good come from this? Cody and I basically living in the same house, talk about drama. As if I don't already have enough drama with Justin and our group already.

Although it may get me closer to Cody and understand what he's been through while I've been living up my life. I should at least make that sacrifice for him. I managed to give my parents a weary smile. "I do want Cody here, trust me when I say that. But aren't you guys the least bit worried..."

"Oh god no Bailey. We trust you and Cody to have the house to yourself even if his mother can't be here." My mother said giving a nervous laugh. I rolled my eyes, of course she'd say that. She absolutely loves and adores Cody like her own son.

I nodded at both my parents. "Fine, you can go on your vacation with Pops but don't forget to say hi for me."

My mother nodded but dad looked at me with a questioning glance. He knows it'll be easy for my mother to say yes but my father thinks logically. He knows I have a reason for saying yes. I shrug at him and he shakes his head his lips turning up into a smile.

"Just promise you'll throw no parties while I'm gone." He said wiggling his eyebrows.

"Oh I promise you." I winked at him.
